AlexDeLarge
Quick question guys, got a illuminated wiper switch and the light cannister for the fiber optic and I believe I have effed up because its out of a 78 I think and I have a 74. Obviously the plugs are different so I was wondering if its possible to rig it up somehow? I looked at the wiring diagram from both years and looks like wire placement in the plugs changed up slightly. I am new to all this but have some guys around here that can help so I was just wondering if its possible? I presently have a toggle switch the po put in and still need to get under the dash to see how hes got it hooked up. I got the original switch with the truck but the wires are all cut off and its roached. Wanted to put the stock switch where its supposed to be because the toggle is mounted on the left "tuner" hole of the radio plate and I have a mint radio delete plate I want to stick in there to cover the hole in my dash. hobospyder
As long as you didn't get the intermittent wiper switch you should have no issues. Unless you have the intermittent wiper and picked up the non intermittent switch. Quote Link to comment
AlexDeLarge
Well I know my wipers are not intermittent but I thought that all the wipers from 78-79 were intermittent hence the bigger plug, although the switch has the same number of wires(5) as my old crusty switch. Hell, I'll eff with it and figure something out or break it...lol Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
see if there are 3 positions other than off, that'll tell you if it's intermittent or not. int/low/high positions vs low/high 1 Quote Link to comment
AlexDeLarge
Not really sure how the stock switch is supposed to work since Ive never had it in the truck but the original one I have I can turn once clockwise and then back. It is missing the spring in it, the new one I have has the spring and I can turn it once clockwise but it springs back. What does the in and out function of the knob do? Sorry for the newb questions. sebpv
i havent had a functional truck in 4 years but isnt the pulling action for ON/OFF and twisting for slow/fast? Quote Link to comment
DanielC
On a 1970 521, the wiper switch can be in, pulled out one click, and out a second click. In is wiper off, out one click is low speed wiper, out a second click is higher speed wiper. The twist against a spring is for the washer fluid pump. 1 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
pulling is on/off, turning does the washer fluid 1 Quote Link to comment
