510 transmisson question

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I just had a 72 510 drop in my lap, original L16 with a non-working automatic.

I happen to have a 4 speed transmission out of a 75 280z.  Could I use that in the 510?  Any real mods I would need to make to fit it in?

I have a 510 pedal box already too.

Thanks for any info,

dgi

Shorten the driveshaft 5.5"

Modify the 510 mount by following the Dime Quarterly Volume 9 Issue 2

You may have to enlarge the shifter hole, maybe.

Need...

Clutch slave and pushrod that connects to the pedal.

Hydraulic hard line to slave. Use pre made brake line and bend yourself.

Flex line from hard line (body mount) to slave*

Clutch lave cylinder and push rod.*

Clutch arm and dust boot*

Release bearing collar for a 200mm clutch

Release bearing, new

Pilot bushing for crank.

Clutch assy 200mm

Flywheel 200mm 5 bolt mount to crank.

Shifter and dust boot.

17 tooth speedometer pinion for pre '80s 71B transmission.

* some parts may be on Z car 4 speed

Optional... replace the output seal they are only $5 and easier to do now that when in the car and your driveshaft gets wet because the old seal is worn.
