hang_510
This is how I stop deceleration popping... I engage the clutch. Timing is everything. 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
I usually go down hills in neutral, it's quite and faster. And there is no popping! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I would disengage the clutch if really popping but that's no way to drive. But then I wouldn't put up with snapping and popping in the first place... had that with dual straight Walker Continentals on my 340 Dart. The more open and straight through the less the sound is attenuated. Today I would rather have a lower rumble sound. I have a 2 1/4 inch muffler on a 1 7/8 pipe. It just dumps out and down. Still has the stock resonator. It's slightly larger than the original muffler and has a different tone. I can still hear soft 'popping' sounds. Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... bum... bum...bum...bum Quote Link to comment
Roadster-ka
You better fix that carb then Mike! Quote Link to comment

jalexquijano
This is how i always adjust the 3 screws roundtop su carbs after setting my time to 14btdc: Remove the air filter Set the fuel mixture knobs at 2.5 turns clockwise Set the idle speed on both carbs at 1000rpm using the unisys tool Use the fast idle screw to 2000 rpm to verify the balance amongst both carbs Drive the car and it if lacks power i increase the fuel mixture knob one more turn. Right now i have dialed them both to 3.5 turns. 1 Quote Link to comment

mhub91
1000rpm idle speed? I bet you just love the sound of diesling when you shut it off. Quote Link to comment
jalexquijano
I have an ac system installed with no compensator. Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
I have an ac system installed with no compensator. Compensator? Oh, an idle solenoid 1 Quote Link to comment
jalexquijano
Just confirm i am doing the tune up procedure correctly. I start at 2.5 turns clockwise and have reached 3.5 turns on both fuel mixture knobs. The idle and balance were already set. Colortune is not giving me the precise mixture. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Compensator? Oh, an idle solenoid Holy crap that made me laugh. 2 Quote Link to comment
hang_510
I have an ac system installed with no compensator. Cool, butt a compensator would stop the pooping. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Almost 8 full pages. Was the lack of AC compressor the cause? Quote Link to comment
jalexquijano
i will be taking the car to the muffler shop again. I found a leak between the stock manifold and downpipe. maybe ill seal it better using permatex high temperature silicone and the felpro gasket alltogether. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Silicone isn't recommended for use on exhaust manifolds. They say it's only good to 650F. A car's manifold can easily get twice this but over 650 is normal. Use dry gaskets specifically the meta-lized ones made for high heat. 1 Quote Link to comment
jalexquijano
Okay so no exhaust leaks! System less restrictive? What if i install a resonator to cancel the deceleration popping? If it is feasible where and which Brand? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Resonators are designed to tune out objectionable exhaust noise through a specific range to complement the muffler used. Like getting rid of an annoying drone at cruising sped. I don't think this will help popping much. For that you need a muffler that better absorbs it. Did you try turning the idle speed up slightly?
