You're 3 pages into this and it's not going away with a gasket change.

This popping is the new normal.

Most products have a tech line you can contact. If not like i said earlier have you gone on line or any z forum and inquired about msa exhaust to see of they had the same popping noise. We are giving you advised since u asked are you checking off the advised that are given. I have a feeling its a normal thing with the popping.

if you think or even have a question about the gaskets being crappy quality then replace them

dont use form a gasket or anything of the like on the exhaust it wont help

Just talked to a seller at MSA and he says its not normal. He argues that the car is running rich or it has ignition problems. I told him none of that. I lowered the mixture and it still backfires on deceleration. I advanced to 16BTDC and retarded to 11 BTDC and still the same.

Of course he will say that. ALL low restriction 'performance' exhausts make noise... it's what they do best.

sell it and put the stock one back on

or ask msa for a refund

you obviously are not satisfied or happy with it

FYI, all vehicles do this when you alter the exhaust.

I work at a performance shop. Just a few weeks ago a installed a massive cat back on a 2016 F150 low rider. It popped and crackled when engine braking.

Jalex, last time I'm going to ask, have you gone to other z web sites to see if this is normal. The other day, a new z,went by me on the road and I can tell it had an aftermarket muffler, and I heard it popping.

some say its normal, other say i should have an exhaust leak somewhere and i should also use PERMATEX ULTRA COPPER RTV together with the gaskets.

Maybe u should put the old exhaust back and see. I don't think you will get an answer u want to hear. A lot of times, you have yo diagnose yourself.

It's fairly easy to find an exhaust leak besides the visual....have someone cover the exhaust hole while you get under and listen for the leak....

You know, I think to get past this you should replace all the gaskets and use whatever sealer you choose. Seems like this is the only thing that will satisfy you. Come back and let us know how well this worked.
