d.p
I cannot get this mfer back on to save my life. The spring has no give whatsoever, there has got to be an easier way to do this then using wire cutters and trying to pull it over and into the hole. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Turn the brake shoe adjuster down. This will move the brake shoes closer together. 1 Quote Link to comment
d.p
Got it thanks Mike. Had to use a brake spring tool to finally get it on. Fuck that thing is a whore. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I tend to use vise-grips clamped on perpendicular to the spring. Usually works really well. 2 Quote Link to comment

d.p
Yeah I tried vice grips, wire cutters, screwdrivers everything to no avail. Bought this fucker to finally get it on but even then it wasn't easy. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I put the spring on drums then carry them over to the hub. mount one side in the groves then mount the top of the other side in the groove and mucle the lower end on till it clips in the groove 1 Quote Link to comment
rinigado
long something like screwdriver or allen key hooked by the spring hook, and that can fit in the spring hole. apply leverage on the screwdriver/long-allen-wkey until the spring hook slides along the screwdriver down towards the spring hole which hopefully lands said hook somewhat in the hole, miss, curse, repeat. or what hainz said...put the whole thing together than wrestle them into place. On my 521 the top spring is a pain in the ass if you do this, since for my truck anyway the spring is just a bit thicker than the gap between hub and wheel cylinder. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Big vice grips are needed, small ones don't give enough grip. Quote Link to comment
