Doctor510
Check your accelerator pump discharge nozzle to see if it squirts Quote Link to comment
tr8er
That's somewhat to be expected of that carb from what I've experienced. I think the vaccuum at idle is a bit low for the 38. It works like a beast when you are driving though right? I think synchronous barrels are the issue. Having a primary jet gives the 32/36 the advantage at startup. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I had a 38/38 on a L16 and I had issues on hills as open to fast if bogs out. otherwise it was a cheapest HP increase ever. increase the idle timming if possible. 1 Quote Link to comment
racerx
maybe 38/38 is a wee bi too much for the engine. Not sure what your set-up is. You can also call PierceManifold and talk to their tech guy. 1 Quote Link to comment
spdcrazy
I can't give any advise on why this might be, but on my l20b, with no engine work other than bored .30 over and ele dizzy, it ran fine. really woke it up. and had zero lag. this was using the smaller port intake, an emissions head, and a cast exhaust manifold. I went from a 32/36 and was really shocked at the improvement, if you are getting lag, i'd be checking some things, vac leaks maybe? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The 38/38 is a small V8 or 6 cylinder carb. Bogging is to be expected on smaller displacement engines as not enough air is being drawn through the venturies to form a vacuum to draw fuel in and it 'falls on it's face'. You can try a larger squirt from the accelerator pump to get you through this lean area or learn how to 'drive' it. Try 1/3 on take off and add to full throttle in stages as the revs build. Experience will dictate how fast you can add full throttle. 1 Quote Link to comment
toylet
I have a 38 38 on my lz2.2. I installed a wide band and found that it was going lean at 1/4 throttle. changed the mains.. all is good Quote Link to comment
