How do I remove the 1/4 window latch pin?

How do I remove the quarter window latch pin? The pin I am referring to is the pin that attaches the latch to the window frame bracket. I bought a new latch but I can't get the old pin out. If i was to press the pin one way it would hit the frame, but I can't push from the other direction because the window frame is in the way if that makes sense.

for the life of me i cant remember how i did mine 

I think I used a short pin and lever to pop the pin partially out away from the window frame and then grabbed it with vice grips 

I know that metal bracket can be removed but cant remember if it can be done with the window glass in  

i might have even broke one side of the old latch to get access to the role pin
