JoeyP31
My first time rebuilding a carb. I received my Walker carb kit today and plan on rebuilding my hitachi two barrel carb tonight. Any advice before I begin? I'll be posting pictures of the kit and my carb later photo bucket is down for the moment. Quote Link to comment
NoMoneyZ
Take your time and take pictures of where everything goes. Make sure you clean out every jet and the air bleeds. I just did mine and it was completely plugged in several areas. It's not a hard process, just be patient. Guaranteed some of the screws will be pretty hard to get out so be careful not to strip them. datzenmike
Put aside a few hours when you won't be interrupted. Have a cleared, newspaper covered table. 12mm spanner, probably a 17mm for the inlet banjo fitting and the power valve. Adjustable wrench for the idle cut solenoid. A narrow and a wide blade screw driver. I ground one down so it would fit up inside to get the primary and secondary jets. Philips screw driver large and small. Old tooth brush Needle nose pliers Dental pick Can of carb spray with straw. Take your time, take pictures. Quote Link to comment
Daryl
Welcome. I've had great luck rebuilding 520 & 210 carby's. 620s haven't always worked... Now while it may be cheaper to rebuild, I've had carbs with all sorts of issues after rebuild that weren't there before. Some include: Worn linkages, Leaking jets & venturi. Some have more wear that others and removing years of negligence and filth will show up in different ways. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. When I have a rebuilt but end up finding it "worn" I've been able to swap parts from another and built up a good one. Anyway, above posts are dead on & pics will get you far if something is misplaced. Quote Link to comment
