Fuel sender/gauge

Purchased and Intalled a 16g fuel cell from summit and selected the 0-90ohm fuel sender option. Problem is; what will it take for my stock gauge to work correctly with the sender? It's a 78' 620. I'd prefer to not have to purchase a separate fuel gauge. I do still have the factory tank sitting in my garage somewhere. If that helps any.

You might be able to use an inline resistor to make the gauge accurate... have you tried connecting it and seeing what the gauge does... it should just be a ground signal so nothing bad will happen..

If you have the old sender you can connect an ohm meter and see what to stock one reads and compare the range... then you should be able to adjust the new one with a resistor to match

The sender that came with the fuel cell is 0-90ohms, 0 being empty and 90 being full. Is there anyway I can get the factory gauge to work with the new sender without buying one of those $130 boxes that allow you to change all that?

I was hoping I could switch the electrical stuff from the old tank and retrofit it somehow to work on the new tank?

I have no idea how a fuel cell works. There are probably dozens of makes. I do know how the stock 620 tanks work. This is a problem with changing to after market stuff..... compatibility. I assume you have a good reason for the change, so spend the $130 and get the correct sender.

I doubt the 620 sender will fit and seal. The float is most likely the wrong length and droop.

Is the fuel cell plastic? The sender may have two wires. If so reverse them.
