Fuel Pump lever keeps collapsing.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

So the lever in my mechanical fuel pump keeps collapsing. I uninstall the fuel pump put the lever back on and it just collapses when I turn the car on. Any ideas why it does that? Is it broken? Pump is not that old probably going to be a year since I replaced it.

1972 Datsun 510 stock

Thanks.

what do you mean by collapsing and how did this start since it seems it was at one time working properly

they have a spring that should be constantly pushing pressure on the cam lobe is it possibly broken or dislodged

Well it keeps coming out of place so it's just loose in the inside. The spring is there and the fuel pump does have a spacer.

I was driving when it happened it just stopped delivering the fuel and the car turned off on me. I uninstalled it and the the metal parts on the sides of the lever where out of the slots.

My fuel pump does not have any bolts on the top.

New Obsolete Stock also.

Datsun NOS parts, for all intents and purposes does not exist. Sellers have found that putting NOS in front of a part for sale is the same as putting JDM. Mostly 'knock off' parts from China/Taiwan/Whereever or clean used.
