72 240Z MASTER CYLINDER ON 72 510

I'm putting 240z front brakes on my 510.  Since it's basically the same setup as a Z car, will a 72 z car master cylinder interchange.

Probably but what size is the master? The 510 uses a 3/4"? without a booster so if you go larger diameter master the pedal will be harder to press or very firm. I would keep the 510 master and see how well that works first.

I have a 7/8 240z master on my 510 no brake booster and it works well 

you have to make the pedal push rod or convert the 510 one over as the z one is in the booster 

mine has the bleeders on the drivers side which allows just enough room for my cannon long manifold and side draft carbs with air horn  filers

Thanks for the info.  My thought on using the Z MC was that the system would be basically the same as a Z.  I'm not going to use the stock proportioning valve in lieu of a dash adjustable one.  I'm  gonna run Mikunis so the extra room may come in handy.

FYI that is not a "proportioning valve".......that aluminum unit is a distribution valve, which acts as a safety feature (British cars had same thing!).  Brake fluid simply flows thru it, and there is a l'il slide plunger (looks like a weight lifting barbell with seals on it) that stays balanced during normal brake operation.  If you blow out a brake hose, front OR rear, that slide plunger moves to the opposite distribution port, closes it off, thus leaving the other circuit working, NOT well, but well enough to stop the car.......so you don't loose both front & rear brakes!  I've never researched deleting this distribution valve, but since the brake master has separate front & rear ports................??
