DatMo
PLEASE, once you sort out how to run a hazard switch, may you please pm me or let me know. I have the same kit :) Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
I get that, but I really want something more 80s for this car. ^_^ I have a deal working for some 14x7 mesh wheels I may use. We shall see... JDM or Appliance? Quote Link to comment
The Taterhead
Just my .02 but consider the stock rootbeer brown of the 2004 Nissan Armada. I would post a pic but PB and I are getting a divorce. I can't "share" a pic without turning auto backup on. That's not hapnin' Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Just my .02 but consider the stock rootbeer brown of the 2004 Nissan Armada. Like this, or like this? JDM or Appliance? Technically both. ^_^ Appliance mesh, made in Japan. They aren't the standard one you see a lot (which I like), they are a style you don't see much... And yes, that's a pic of the wheels on my 1200. :P I sold them to a good friend of mine a few years ago, and he never used them. I currently have a set of wheels he wants, so a trade was struck. But since we are both cheap and don't want to ship them (he lives 4 hours away), he's coming to town next month and we will wait and swap then. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
PLEASE, once you sort out how to run a hazard switch, may you please pm me or let me know. I have the same kit :) My planned method is not really gonna help you much... 1. Turn signals on separate rocker switches. Flip both for hazards. 2. I never use my hazards, so I really don't care if they work or not. 1 Quote Link to comment

I have the same kit :) On second thought, hopefully Tim (dimlight65) sees this post. This is our 4th time using this harness, and I think at least once he made the hazards work. I know on his current project he used a "vintage" aftermarket turn signal switch that has the hazards built into it. In fact, looking around online, Grote (maker of that) has a few different models, some possibly more befitting a small 70s car? Hell, I might just get one of those...   Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Those are very cool, I like them better than my 14x7 Ansen Cross Wire Mags. I really should get my hubs drilled to 114.3 for much better selection Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I like those better than my 14x7 Ansen Cross Wire Mags Interesting that those are basically a mix of the two different Appliance styles. Flat spokes, but stepped lip. I like them. Quote Link to comment

This is our 4th time using this harness, and I think at least once he made the hazards work. Yeah, I'm sitting here thinking, "Psh, it wasn't that hard... was it?" and now, for the life of me, I cannot remember how I actually did it. I'll grok the instructions this Saturday (if John reminds me and we can find them) and see what I can deduce. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Finally took off the chintzy side moldings... Decided to test fit the 1200 dash just for grins. Yeah, it is about 4 inches too narrow side-to-side and about 2" too shallow front-to-back. So even though it's not ideal, we will be moving forward with the 210 dash mods... After much head scratching, we think the next tool purchase for the shop will be a spot welder. This will make finishing the dash much easier... So for now, I'm just going to finish the stripping of the car. Then I'm going to get a few quotes for a roll cage. Once that is done, I'll make the dash fit around the cage, then pull the glass out to send it off for paint. The color is still TBD... Also still waffling on a full 6 or 8 point cage, or just a 4 point "street" roll bar type thing. No one makes an off-the-shelf roll bar for a 210, but they are available for a 510, and that may work... We also have a tubing bender at the shop, so I may just nut up and do it myself... Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
PLEASE, once you sort out how to run a hazard switch, may you please pm me or let me know. I have the same kit :) I think I have the solution. But first, a little Foggy Mountain Breakdown! (Ok, only die hard Steve Martin fans will get that reference!) No, first a little backstory. Datsun runs a single flasher unit through the hazard switch into the turn signal switch and out to the lamps front and rear. (*See below for an attempted explanation). There is also a separate brake light circuit feeding separate stop lights. We, meaning you DatMo, will need to cut the wire which runs between those two switches and splice in the T/S relay from your new harness to feed the T/S switch. (Of course the hazard flasher should feed the Datsun hazard switch.) Obviously the LF, LR, RF, & RR wires in the new harness will need to be appropriately spliced together and fed from BOTH the T/S and the hazard switches. You will need a separate brake light circuit but I believe there is a "Third Brake Light" circuit in the new harness which should feed the stop lamps. (I believe that is how I wired my Lotus' brake lights, BTW.) *If we assume: A is on the hazard switch and is the input from the flasher, B is on the T/S switch and is its input from the flasher, C is out to the left T/S lights, and D is out to the right T/S lights; then the Datsun hazard and T/S switchs work like this: Hazard OFF, T/S Neutral: A feeds B while C & D are dead-ends at the hazard and the T/S switches Hazard OFF, T/S "Left": A feeds B, B feeds C, and D is dead Hazard OFF, T/S "Right": A feeds B, B feeds D, and C is dead Hazard ON: A feeds C & D while the T/S switch wires are all dead-ends It should be noted that C & D do not interconnect except when the hazard switch is "ON" because the hazard "Switch" is actually two switches... well, three if you count the "OFF" position as another switch, which it really is because it is never truly "OFF" or "ON" but more like a router. YES! That's it! It isn't a hazard "switch" but a signal router. And after an hour of composing this post, I hope it makes some sense. 1 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
who is this kirk? The only place in the US that makes/sells a good A-series or L-series header. They used to make the ones Nismo sold, now they sell them direct to the public since Nissan doesn't care any more... ^_^ And I got my 1200's header from them. As well as the header for my last 510. And probably the header for this car too... Oh, and they also make roll bars, roll cages, etc. :P http://kirkracing.com Quote Link to comment
The Taterhead
Like this, or like this Well I was thinking the first one but it looks too orange in that pic to me. The second seems too dull. The Armada I saw was darker than the first one but hell it could've been overcast that day. Quote Link to comment

Yeah, that color is very light sensitive... Guessing the metallic in it makes it more orange in bright sunshine... Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Bumpers and lights off. That took longer than I thought it would... Waffling on whether to try and straighten those two thin metal strips, or try to find some better ones out there somewhere... I do desperately need another left fender. My painter thinks he can fix this one, but damn... Quote Link to comment
