The term 'short' is misused. A short is a path for electricity around something it is intended to power, usually to ground. A short would blow a fuse or burn up the wiring. When something electrical doesn't work it's almost always an 'open' or broken wire, bad contact in a switch, loss of power, loss of ground ground or a blown fuse.

This is how the current flows through the headlamp system...

+battery... fusible link.... light switch (in the on position).... to all 4 headlamps..... light relay (in either hi or low position)..... ground.

This is all you need to know....

1/ All headlamps have power when you pull the lamp switch to ON

2/ The head lamp relay grounds either the hi or the low beams to complete the circuit and turn them on.

So... do all the headlamps not work???
