I don't like photo hosting sites anymore so I just make You Tube videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4dUwdfaxKw You can upload directly to the forum now. Cud’s are good too.. but better if embedded. 1 Quote Link to comment

captain720
I am going to try the Instagram photo hosting here goes. I got a new solonoid to replace the Chevy truck one I used to actuate my fender fuse block because that one melted. 2 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
Gatorade bottle is ratsunesque, most folks use cheap aluminum beer bottles (Coors screw top) but the clear plastic makes sense. The solenoid for the fuse panel doesn't make sense to me unless there are circuits that have a constant drain. A fuse that is below the rating of the supply wire should be located as close to the battery as possible. Keep it simple and safe. 3 Quote Link to comment

The solonoid turns the alternator and the choke heater on and off. both are a continuous drain if left unchecked and all the wires are larger than the fuse size. Everything overdone and safe. Factory wiring on a truck like this gets to a hopeless point and you just have to start making things work anyways. A water damaged fuse block is a nightmare. 3 Quote Link to comment

captain720
I'm working on my body panel welding, I got better as I went along but I know it's rough. Better than rust at least. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
You should have grabbed replacement doors and fenders from me when you were here. I try to keep a couple sets on hand just in case one of the snowbirds, blue hairs get in my way! LOL 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
Thanks Charlie! I actually have a spare set of doors or two, I just really like to take what I have and make what I need and this rig sees a lot of trail use so rattle can patch panel is just the way it is 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
I don't want to put a brand new door on just to have a tree branch take it out if ya know what I mean. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I know what you mean. I thought that was the truck you were fixing up to daily drive. 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
I got some used alluminum wheels at the wrecking yard for $35 out of a beat up pathgrinder. They work, seems to have less backspacing than the factory ones though. 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
Tailgate got squished today (third photo in) so I may need to go flatbed this winter. Oh well just like the door I don't plan on putting a good one on as it would meet the same fate. 2 Quote Link to comment
captain720
The Bearing on my power steering tensioner pulley got so bad the pulley actually flexed so far it would spark against the mount bracket when I tightened it up. I was able to find a napa pulley with the right size bearing and the machine shop pressed in my bushing for almost free. 2 Quote Link to comment
captain720
Water pump got so bad that the impeller was moving around taking little pieces out of the timing cover, check out the video for more details and a better look at just how bad that bearing got. https://youtu.be/YuOpQPY1s1A 2 Quote Link to comment
NC85ST
Years ago, I had one fly apart on me. Sent the fan into the radiator about 1 1/2 miles from home. Good thing you caught it quick enough, mine wasn’t making a noise for long before it went. Looks like you might have a valve cover gasket issue as well. 1 Quote Link to comment

captain720
Replaced the electric choke with a new one, really made a difference. The old one just plain got old and was opening too fast, I think the Weber has been on the truck for at least 150k. Here's a link to the video, I am now just doing videos instead of posting pictures of my stuff. 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
Got my valve cover replaced today and had to do the brake booster vacuum line as well. Recorded a video but probably not going to get it edited for a little while 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
Video on the valve cover gasket/brake booster replacement is done if anybody is interested or if maybe it could help somebody out. 1 Quote Link to comment
