Heated seats

So I've got a set of e30 sport edition seats for a steal and they're heated as well. Because I don't have a heater, heated seats could be really nice. With that being said, has anyone installed a heated seat? Here's the wiring from the seat. I was gonna purchase a universal switch off amazon but not quite sure how to wire it.

There's a four prong connection it seems to be.

And of course the beautiful seats themselves.

Look up e30s and see if they used seat heaters that were just one or if they were controlled as seat bottom and seat back. Two heater circuits might explain the 4 connections. Also, if no other wiring under there, 2 wires could be seatbelt light.

You should probably use a relay to wire it in.

Good call. As far as the seatbelt light, I removed the seat belts and one side had a wire with it that was removed, the other side had no wire at all.

I just put Subaru leather seats in and found three wires. It was for hi or low warmth. I just wired them both on (hi) and I believe there is a thermostat so it can't get TOO hot. I was in a hurry and just plug them into the cigar lighter but it doesn't shut off with the key and I have to unplug them when done. I will wire up something through the ignition when the weather warms up and an off switch. I did get the HI/OFF/LOW toggle switches for them. Maybe I can hide this ugly plastic rocker switch (doesn't match the 710 interior) by mounting on the side of the console. On cold days within a mile I begin to forget how cold my ass is and within 2 miles there is a definite very pleasant warmth even though my hands are cold and the windshield barely defrosting.

Jacob, When I plug them on there is no dimming or the lights like you might get turning the heater fan on or any notice that there is a large draw.

But don't you have an Altima alternator?

I agree though. My BMW with a 120a alt can power both seats, rear window/side mirrors, sub woofer, 6 headlight bulbs and everything else it does without flinching. But the 510 stock alternator is a 35 amp one...

Find a e30 wiring diagram, wire it like that. Use a relay for sure. Also make sure you have a big alternator, any electrical device that makes heat is never too efficient and uses a lot of power.

As far as an altenatoe, I have a 280zx internally regulated so I'll probably have to upgrade soon then. I'll definetly look into an e30 diagram. I found some switches off amazon that I'm planning on purchasing and fittin in. And of course, a relay will be necessary.

I was thinking of always running high as well but wasn't quite sure and I mean the switch does have an option so why not sort to speak. I assumed my hands and window would be shit. Btw, the 710 looks great on insta!

If it's setup for hi and low temp, wire that feature in. Its surprisingly nice to use hi to get warm and low to maintain it.

Yours might be setup with high and low on seperate grounds? Making the 4 wires? Hard to tell but it appears that two of the wires are black
