New member from Kansas. I recently bought a 1974 Datsun 620 pickup from a guy in Oklahoma. I'm extremely exited to see how this truck will end up. I've been following this forum since I picked up my truck about a month ago and finally kind of learned how to navigate the site. So I wanted to make an account and get a chance to learn and soak up some information on these things. I have pictures but not sure how to upload. I know I need a photo bucket but how do I go about doing that?

Welcome. Can't wait to see pics :)

That might help. I know there is another thread about photobucket specifically.

Whenever I think that I'm out of my mind for putting this much time and money into an old Datsun, all I have to do is look some of your threads to know that I'm not nearly as whack as you are.

You're going to skin a few knuckles, stand up too fast and bump your head, hunt around the floor for the nuts and bolts you dropped, invent a few new cuss words and when you're finished you'll say "That wasn't so hard after all!"

That's a pretty straight 620. Nice score. Stock wheels and caps, sweet. Grill and bumper are nice too

It looks like the previous owner did a paint job before sale. To bad they painted things that shouldn't be painted, hood trim, door handles, taillight housing, from what I can see.

Does it run and drive. Check brakes, fuel, charging. All good than drive it. That's all the advise I have until you can tell us 'the plan'

The truck actually runs very well. The engine has been rebuilt and the heads milled. No coolant leaks and the radiator holds compression. The front crankshaft seal is leaking a small bit however. Other than that no fluid leaks. It runs and shifts just fine and the clutch is new when the previous owner sent the engine off to get rebuilt.

Hey JoeyP31

Looks like an awesome start...the last Datsun (daily driver) I owned was a 1974...not nearly as nice as yours tho...

My son lived in Topeka for several years...he has since moved to Lawrence....I love love love Kansas...hoping to end up there before my time is done here....

Keep up the good work...

Did the dog come with the truck ?

If so, you got a hell of a deal.... :)

"All of a sudden it started making noise, then started losing power. I limped the car home and tried to get it up the driveway, the engine just died."

Why do people do this?

A $100 tow bill is never as much as the extra damage you cause by trying to "limp the car home".

Don't be that person !
