Yes, get a second and if possible 3rd opinion, if you break again you'll be money for them, that's why they want you going back to work sooner than you should, my uncle lived it, now he's disabled due to bad judgement from his doctor.

Happened to a guy I used to work with. They had to cut his toes off, the doctor fucked up the closures 3 times and he ended up losing half his foot, and he's diabetic.

Whoa....

Avoid opiates they are endemic today and worse that the problem. It helps if you are in good shape going into something like this also. Recovery is always faster than if you were in poor shape. Good condition helps support the weaker parts while recovering. You should be on anti inflammatory anyway as therapy alone can cause inflammation. Recovery is painful so expect this and push through... no pain no gain BUT at the end of the day if recovery is not following the usual course have your doctor check this out.

I have talked with other coworkers who had same surgery and they said the same having 6-8weeks recovery time and I talked with my Union and they said 3 weeks is too soon to come back to work and they suggested that I can take up to 8 weeks, but I hope I still get paid

well the corrupt surgeon told the insurance company that i should be back to full duty after 4 weeks of pain and suffering even though i explained to the quack doctor my job duties. he doesn't care. i will be going to my family doctor for 2nd opinion. the surgeon was in kenya before he did my surgery, i just pray that he did not bring any diseases back with him.

Well went back to see the surgeon to inform him that I am still having issues after he released me back to full Duty, I pulled muscle away from mesh on Friday and was bleeding a little, but the surgeon in out of town till Thursday so I saw the PA and explained to her and she was violating my groin area and says it's just the muscle area is stiff (no pun intended), so she put me back on light duty for 1 week

I have had 2 hernia surgeries, first one was fixed on May 18, 1980, I was on the operating table when Mt St. Helens  blew her top, the second time was a smaller one maybe 8 years later on the same side, the first time I was off for 6 weeks, the second time I was off a week, they begged me to come back to work driving the forklift, they said someone would ride with me to do all the lifting, never had anyone help me after I showed up for work.

But I survived and never had another one, I figured out it was better to have a job without heavy lifting, so I started a pressure washing business, you guys have any idea what a shovel full of wet moss weighs.

I don't know if you are, or are not overweight, but I do know that the re-occurrence of a hernia is 4% on average. That re-occurrence rate drops in half if recovery is combined with 10% weight loss. I doubt that really helps for those who are not overweight, but my only experiance was with an overweight guy. After watching that, I lost 30lbs. on a diet called f.m.d.

I'm pretty pissed off at your surgeon though. He likely deals with too many milkers and got jaded. Going to work is a choice. Take care of yourself. I hope you don't pop again.

Good luck with recovery Gene. I have to say, it sounds like a toss up between you and Charlie for the supreme title of unlucky bastard of the year. After reading each of your stories about personal medical misadventures, I no longer want to complain about nothin'!

Hoping for  a speedy recovery for both of you.

They didn't use mesh when I had my hernias, I don't know about my second one as it was not like the first one I had, I think they just cut the weak muscle that was causing me pain and bulging, pushed it into my body and pulled the sides together and sewed it together, I was off work for a whole week on that one.

The first one was a real hernia, my intestines pushed thru my groin muscles and blew up like a balloon and filled my nut sack, if I laid down the fluid would flow back into my body, I walked around like this for several months as it didn't really hurt after I ripped my muscle the first time and it healed, all they did back then was cut me open, squeeze the fluids back into my intestines, tie the intestine that blew up like a balloon in a knot near the spot where it got thru, push the knot back thru the hole and then sew the hole up tight as they could while leaving what was left of the balloon part of the intestine hanging down into my nut sack, that is how they fixed me the first time and that spot has been good for 36 years, but I did have 6 weeks off after the in hospital operation(3 days), now days it's out patient surgery, you go home the same day like my second hernia operation.

I see commercials now about that hernia mesh and how you can receive money/compensation for issues from them using it, it's kinda sad how things work in this country now, the way they fixed my hernias worked fine, but no medical company made money doing it that way, only the local doctor/hospital made money.
