Marsh510
Hey guys, I'm currently looking into advice for gear ratios. I've read some simplified topics of how gear ratios work, but would like people's opinions on what's good. I currently am looking to put a CLSD into my 510. I have a bone stock S14 KA motor in it, but would like to stick a Subaru LSD and a pair of CV axles. I'm looking to get freeway driving in, but some acceleration. Any advice, thanks. kelowg
3.50 or 3.30-top speed wise. 3.70/3.90- quicker off the line, lower top speed Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
Ask datsloco about his car, it has freeway flyer gearing but still accelerates quickly with a ka. Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
Hope you realize that the 510 stub axles can be modified so that they will snap into the Subaru R160 diffs. Quote Link to comment

paradime
I have an R180 3.90 out of an 07, WRX sti in my SR swapped 510 and I cruise along on the highway turning 2700rpm at about 65mph in 5th. If anything, first is a little short for daily, but the car literally jumps off the grid. You better have 2nd ready and waiting though. This should be exactly the same for you as your KA tranny has virtually the same gearing. SR20DET S13 (5 speed)1st: 3.3212nd: 1.9023rd: 1.3084th: 1.0005th: 0.759Reverse : 3.382Final Drive: 4.083 KA24DE s14 (5 speed) 1st = 3.3212nd= 1.9023rd = 1.3084th = 1.000 (Direct Drive)5th = 0.759 (Over Drive) Final Drive: 4.083 Honestly though, there aren't many LSDs left out there, so you may not have much of a choice. If you're willing to shell out the extra money for a newer sti tranny ($400-$550) and Beta Motorsports 27 spline stub ends ($500), you won't be disappointed. Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
Lockleaf, I don't even think they (Subaru) offers the R160 any longer, pretty sure they are all R180s now, which is a whole new bag of worms as far as fitment, since they require custom stub shafts to use in a Nissan. Futofab also offers them, as he took over when the guy that run Wolf Creek Racing passed away. Quote Link to comment
