goon gas cap mod

i have a 71 510 goon and hate the huge exposed gascap. i have searched but have not found if anyone has modified the cap behind a door from another vehicle or fabricated one themselves. anyone know of anything about doing this?

I have a 710 goon and it has a door, 610 and 810 probably the same. With work maybe one could be trimmed off and fitted?

It was a LOT of work to put in.  In addition to the body work, I also had to fabricate a new filler system to get the fuel to the tank.  The whole process is in my build thread starting about here.  http://community.ratsun.net/topic/38680-duncans-71-oz-goon/page-40

 

Still need to paint the fuel door, but here it is on the car..

There are discussions about this on the forum somewhere, maybe even in Duncan's thread before he did his. The 80s Subaru GL gas door has been used successfully by a member here. A couple other options were also discussed, including using a 510 gas door from a sedan.
