Air conditioning question on '71 dime with '95 ka24de.

Hi All,

I did a search and didn't find what I needed.

I have a 71 dime with a 95 ka24de.  The car has the OEM vents and AC controls in the dash but no compressor or lines.  Can I just piece together a 95 240sx compressor and tubing or should I go with vintage air?

Thanks in advance!  Pic  or my engine bay for visual appeal!

Find an AC specialist near you that will help you custom build this system (I bet many shops won't want to deal with it! :crying: ), will order the parts for you etc etc.  Use the KA24DE compressor, cuz it will bolt up with correct brackets.....easy!  Buy a universal AC condenser (at front) by dimensions to fit what you measure on the car (or measure the dealer installed one if you still have it!!), also taking into consideration where you want the inlet & outlet, based on where the KA compressor is located.  Buy a universal receiver drier, mount where suitable.  I think the evaporator VALVE will be relatively easy to match up.....replace it!  Hope that your stock dealer installed evaporator core is good (if not, have custom made to fit the existing under dash unit OR just go with the universal Vintage Air kit!  Your biggest expense will be having the AC hoses made........once you decide on condenser & receiver drier placement, measure for the hoses......they will need to know what style end fittings you need.  AC is pretty straight forward, just need to replace most of the components, so you KNOW they are good/new!

EastBay, I think you & I talked before holidays??  I hope to dig AC setup out this weekend, will let you know!

I'm also in the boat of wanting to add a/c to my 510 eventually. I'm hoping to swap out the entire heater and a/c boxes with a newer setup (newer like 90s maybe), then integrate the original a/c vents, the fresh air vents, plus better foot vents and original defroster vents.

But that will be after she actually runs. I do have a large majority of the wiring done for it though, using the 82 720 harness I have in my 510, plus integrating a different fan switch to control a/c and an electric fan that turns on whenever the a/c is activated, like a modern car.

I'm using KA24DE stuff under hood, condenser just fits between the headlights, I even notched my frame rails to fit the KA radiator and opened up the opening 2" all around and I'm using D-21 heater box evap and controls under dash in my 71 wagon of course I lived in Phoenix for 40 years ware you have to know AC to stay alive. Sentra is also a good under dash donor.

Going to the bone yard soon to answer your question but small fits. I like the D21 though because the controls splice into the center of the dash with a center AC vent. I'm using D21 in my 240Z with Z controls, I still need to fit everything into my 510
