mbunzel
Hey guys went to build my coilovers today and hit a couple snags. I am using 280zx strut assemblies with the T3 coilover conversion kit, t3 camber plates, t3 tophats, and gabriel part# G44869 inserts. First off the inserts are to long for the strut bodies. When the inserts are in the bodies they sit flush but this dosent allow the gland nut to thread in. The second issue im having is the the t3 camber plate bearings inner diameter is to small for the diameter of the insert. It will go on to the threaded portion but that is it. It seems like the inserts are just wrong all together but i bought them based on insert guide info from this forum and the fact that they are 280zx factory replacements but dont fit the the strut assemblies has me lost. Anybody having any input on this? Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
possibly the wrong parts in the box that is labeled right it happens more than you think this is not necessarily the problem just a thought of what could be the problem Quote Link to comment

Draker
I had an issue with the inserts being a little too long. I could thread the gland nut on just enough. There is a small riser welded to the bottom of my inserts. I may have grinded that off a bit.. don't remember. Sounds like you need different inserts I guess.. You might google the part number and see if they look like what you have. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I have a depth of insert tube measurement of 376mm for the 280zx strut. Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
The 280zx inserts work a little different with the t3 camber plates. There's a bag of spacers and nuts that come with the camber plates. There's a nut that has a shank that fits inside the camber plate bearing and threads onto the zx insert, it looks kinda like a stock zx lug nut but with an open end if that makes sense. It seems like an odd design but I've never heard of one failing. If the nuts aren't in the bag of hardware or you have any of issues just email gabe at t3, they have great customer service. It seems like the i might have the wrong inserts then because the body length of the ones i have it slightly over 15" The 280zx inserts work a little different with the t3 camber plates. Yeah i do have the bag of spacers and the one your referring to is the only one that i actually fits tight enough but the threads dont seem to be right. The threads on the insert are 1.5 and i cant tell what the ones on the nut are but they dont wanna go easy. Does anyone have any recommendations for different inserts that maybe are a better fitment? datzenmike
Any that are slightly short. Then build up the difference under them with washers. Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
I have tokico illumina 5 way adjustable inserts, they're about $150 each but definitely worth the price. I've had a set for over ten years and they're still like brand new. 2 Quote Link to comment
