does the long lower trim piece on the seat go on the inside of the seat, or the outside?

If you are talking the front buckets, the long piece goes on the outside of the seat cushion.  The short side is there to clear the driveshaft tunnel [and to provide clearance to mount the sheet metal piece that covers the slide at the tunnel].

that's what it hoped, but the seats really crowd the tunnel now, altho the ashtry is in the right positon - inside passenger seat.

Looking great!  Now to find a radio that fits the original openings without butchering the original openings!  The [was TRW] swapmeet in the old TRW, now Grumman parking lot on Aviation Boulevard South of the Federal Building, last Saturday morning of the month, is a good hunting ground for old dash mounted radios and tape players.

i have a period correct hitachi AM radio with the speaker in the head unit and a datsun faceplate.  having it worked on, should be back in the car forthwith!

My radio also has the Mono speaker integral with the radio body.  It is an AM/FM unit.  Bought at the above TRW swap meet when it was still TRW.
