Redrumls
Have an original tach in my 72 goon with a ka24de swap, what do I have to do or get so the tach can work.? I know this has probably been discussed a thousand times somewhere in the forum. Bare with me & my questions. Any info would help or point me in the right direction. Thanks, Greg Quote Link to comment
INDY510
s13 or s14? Quote Link to comment
Redrumls
Not sure, it's a 92 if that helps. Greg Quote Link to comment
INDY510
1992 is a s13 ... the 95 and newer s14 KA24DE's didn't have an external coil I have a 91 s13 KA and used the thick 12ag blk/red main coil wire, going to the s13 coil, and ran it to my stock 710 in-series tach. There should be two thick wires on the back of your tach, which is really just one wire with a loop in it. So any power going to your coil has to go through the tach first. Here's a few threads I looked at first: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/30435-factory-510-tach-to-ka24de-harness/ http://community.ratsun.net/topic/46594-ka24de-swapped-wagon-needs-some-electrical-help/ http://community.ratsun.net/topic/3689-fix-a-stock-510-tach/ http://community.ratsun.net/topic/25204-factory-tach-with-ka24de-swap/ Quote Link to comment
Redrumls
Thanks Jerusalem cruisers! I need to get the tach hooked up. Thanks, Greg Quote Link to comment
INDY510
You want this wire. It's black with a reddish/purple stripe. It's 12ag at the CAN AM box and the KA24DE coil, but it connects to the same color 18ag wire at the ECU. Try to find it near the firewall, then cut it and extend both ends to the tach: Quote Link to comment
