Hi Guys, I'm George and here is my 1970 Datsun 510

I originally bought it from a guy in Vancouver, WA Here's a picture of me driving it home.

It ended up making it 99% home before losing all compression. Once I got it home I set my friends upon it, tearing it apart within a few days. Got rid of alot of parts that I shouldn't have. There was wasp nests everywhere and a rat's nest in the headliner. I was young, inexperienced, igonorant and delusional. It sat for a year probably, I then sold it to, my now good friend, Neil. He went to town on body work and made the car waaaay straighter then when I had it. The car had sat in a barn in Yakima I believe for 10+ years before the guy I bought it from dragged it out. All the while I kept in touch. After not too long maybe a couple months, I told him that I wanted to buy the car back. After about a year of talking to him and offering significantly more money then I sold it to him for he decided to let me buy it back.

You can kinda see how much straightet it is.

Now keep in mind all the while I had been accumulating parts for my 510 build.

Now that I had the car back I was now ready to get back to my build. I had been cleaning my garage so I got it in the day after I towed it home.

Now I had a garage and alot more motivation to get it done. I pulled parts off of it and cut a few things.

banzai510 I would have too now that I know a little bit more but hindsight is 20/20. When I had it at first I was young and dumb so I ended up making it a shell. I had big plans from the start but now I'm ready to follow through.

haha Thanks Paul, I thought someone would get a kick out of it.

Anyways all the while I had it and while Neil had it I was getting parts. Lots of parts. CX Racing radiator for Ka24de swap, 20 gallon fuel cell, T3 control arms, T3 tension control arms, T3 rca's, T3 280zx front struts, 280zx hubs and brakes, CX racing front crossmember for ka24de/sr20de, Dillon's father sold me the correct steering knuckle for 14mm ball joints, T3 tie rods, T3 camber plates, Ermish Dual-Adjustable rear coilovers, Maxima/200sx rear disc conversion kit, 240z steering wheel, e36 3 series seats, takata 4 point harness(probably use this for passengers), Professinally rebuilt s13 ka24de long block, s14 ka24de parts motor, and probably more I'm forgetting.

I had to create some spacers to get the rear coilovers to fit the stock shock mount.

My buddy Ian who has a '69 2 door helped me get the front hubs on.

Hey yall, been a while.

IMG_20170222_013547_099_zpsma8a8hen.jpg

I did a few things in the back to make this easier to hook an actual e-brake on. I flipped them upside down and put them on the opposite side. I tightened the axle bolts down then indexed them with red paint. I used some old 15in steelies I had laying around to put it on the ground. Very exciting for as it's been on jack stands since I got it back.

Anyways I'm looking for some 280zx front brake brackets. I would like to local pick up if I can(I'll be making a post in the fs/wtb section). Thanks for looking!

Did a thing on the front suspension

I put the tie rods in! Took a long time to file the steering knuckles out enough to fit the huge tie rods. Now everything front suspension wise is in the car. Having some trouble with tie rod clearance now, both hit the main steering arm where the idler arm and pitman arm connnect. I think I'm going to hit the main steering arm carefully with an angle grinder where it hits. Maybe after I drop it on the ground.... IDK let me know if this makes sense. STILL LOOKING FOR 280ZX FRONT BRAKE BRACKETS and I can't post in the classifieds for some reason. Thanks for looking.

It's a roller!!! Out of the garage after about 9 months of sitting on jack stands.

Took a few pictures today after I adjusted the ride height. Has some serious toe-out but I'll fix that soon enough.

This is probably my favorite picture that I took today.

I think the passenger got sandpapered by some sticker bushes for a while.

Rebuilt Motor

Intake Mani, I replaced most of the vaccum lines and deleted egr. I still need to put a block plate on but I'll make that tomorrow or the next.

I'm also going to need to go to my local machine shop to get an oil filter bypass valve. Fixed the coolant elbow direction

Snapchat-863726654_zps3vlsqgwv.jpg

You can see here my rebuilt motor doesn't have the oil filter bypass valve so it would just not filter oil essentially

So I ended up going to the dealership first and the parts guybwas super helpful. He ended going through a ton of parts diagrams and found a possible match. Looks exactly like it so I'm hopeful It will be here in a week. Fingers crossed. The local machine shop actually had 2 of the same part ordered from them.
