Car won't shut off / gauges stay on

When I turn the ignition switch to "ON" the fuel gauge moves and the charge light comes on, but when I turn the key to "off" everything stays on until I disconnect the battery. I've tried two different ignition switches, which were both working a few weeks ago, before I started "cleaning up" the stock 710 harness.

Does anyone know what this relay is, on a 75 710 wagon? I had to bolt it to a ground to get the wipers to work. It has 6 thick 12ag wires: 2 blk/wht, 2 blu/blk, one white/red, and one solid white.

If I unplug this relay, and then plug it back in, then the blk/wht wire no longer has a constant 12V. But as soon as the key goes to ON, it will get stuck on constant power until I unplug this relay. Does one of the blk/wht wires go to the ignition switch and one to the fuse box?

I seem to be having this same problem. I turn the key to thenoff position and the truck does nothing. I have to kill it with the choke. I thought it was the ignition coil but I also had a feeling it could be the voltage regulator?

Can't be the coil if the ignition switch is working properly. The ignition supplies power to the coil not the voltage regulator. No power... no spark.

Put a test lamp between  the + side of the coil and ground when running... it should light. Turn off ignition... lamp should go out.

1/ If it stays on find out why. Over night if it is on your battery will discharge

2/If it goes out, the only way the engine will keep running is if it diesels for being hot and the compression.

If 2/ above check that your idle cut solenoid is working. Check that the choke is not on or that the carb is not flooding.

Instead of using the choke, place in 4th and while holding the brake, let the clutch up to lug the engine, and turn the key off. When engine stops let the clutch up all the way.
