Wheel Paint. What‘s best?

I have some paint loss on my front rims and I want to re-shoot the silver on them. Do we all agree that I should go seek out Duplicolor silver wheel paint? Is that the best way to go? I have searched the topic and that was the only recommendation that I found. I just wanted to confirm it as a good choice before I go to the expense and trouble.

 

Sure nice to have checked everything off the list except ‘re-shoot paint on front wheels’... Holy Cow!

You could get them powder coated. Would definitely be the most durable finish.

A big 'YES' on powder coating.

 

But as far as that Dupli-crap wheel paint, it sucks !

Tried some once.

 

And what I'm seeing in rattle can paints in general these days, is that it doesn't adhere anywhere near as good as it did 10-15 years ago, unless it's baked.

Probably a conspiracy by some of the tree-hugger, global warming morons, that made paint companies change their formulas.

I've used that Duplicolor in both silver and graphite. I've been pretty happy with my results. Appearance and durability are both quite good

Powder if you know what you want. Duplicator if you want to play with different looks.

The best product and technique is the one you use.  I say this because the product and technique only have to please you.

Duplicolor does have a decent spray pattern on their aerosol cans so it lays down nicely.  Have no idea about color choice though.

Rustoleum wheel paint on both aluminum and steel wheels. Very easy to touch up if necessary. White covers very good and looks great.

If you curb a powder coated wheel you have to sent it out to be refinished.

Shooting it with a couple clear coats won't hurt and will help protect the finish better as well!
