Looks like an alright deal for what's included with it - you'll of course have some adjustments with the exhaust and wiring ect.

You can find the link for wiring boxes here: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/28097-canam-production-easy-wiring-boxes-for-efi-works-for-kas-srs-vgs-cas-and-more/?st=0

Only thing I'd mention is the SR20/KA stock transmission is going to be longer than stock by approx 2 inches. You'll have to account for this during your installation and positioning of the shifter as well as the driveshaft.

I think I sent a reply to the right person on picking up the wiring box if possible if not then its the Wiring Specialties and Haltech ECU $$$$

Totally different, or I would have put that 8" torsen into my truck......

I'd sell my left nut to have a helical in the Datsun, but the only way that will happen if I put a Toyota axle under it,

and that's not going to happen either.

There were a few Quaife helicals made for the H190 axles, but from what I have heard of the years is that one guy in Australia is hording them all, and won't sell for any reason.

I don't have enough free cash to call Quaife up, and have them make another, and the last I heard, they don't accept old nuts in trade.

Pretty much the same inside if comparing to the TRD LSD.

But the 8" from the Supra doesn't have the ramps like the Nissan/Nismo/TRD does, that forces the plates tighter together when torque is applied. It just uses a single spring for pressure, and is kind of wimpy in stock form. If I remember correctly, the stock torque figure is 45 ft/lbs break away, and then they go down hill from there, as they wear.

I played with heavier springs, double springs, and was able to get one up around 100 ft/lbs,

Now Weir Performance sells spring kits & such for them, but they will never bite as good as one with the cams/ramps in them.

There are plenty of engine importers in Vancouver. CDN dollar doesn't buy much in the US. Be sure to get the transmission, ECU and the wiring for it. Both S13,S14 and S15s had DET options but the S15 would have more improvements.

Have you considered the KA24E from a 240sx?

Do you know the names of any of these importers? I`m not from the area not even close haha but I am here now in Vancouver until Dec 11th when I drive to NB. Would like to pick up my engine here or along the way. I have a couple places that are possible but getting one here would be great.

Cheers :)

Anyone have a Muffler recommendation?

For my own I picked up a 2.5in Borla straight-through - you're probably going to want to increase the diameter of the exhaust by a bit anyway. It was certainly a bit more expensive that stock at $160 coming from the states but once I install I think I'm going to be pretty happy with it.

Will post pics when I get started working on the Project in April

I just saw your thread for the first time tonight and just read threw it. As I was reading I had my fingers crossed that you didn't buy the s14. Not a bad motor by any stretch but VVT system and the low port intake make it harder to upgrade. The s13 blacktop is the newest of the simpler high port SR20 design and has better bang for the buck in terms of power potential. I researched the hell out of SR platform before putting a Blk top s13 in my 510.

Your parts list shows you're serious about this build.   I don't know if you're considering it, but I highly recommend getting a Wiring Specialties harness. That being said, I will admit the wiring is not my strong point, so I lean towards the easier the better.

Best of luck on this build, I look forward to watching

@ paradime - Yeah I kept going back and forth on what SR I would go with. Google and I are well acquainted lol.

When I was talking to the Shop I bought my engine from he told me about the VVT in the newer SR's and warned me

about the harder overall swap and setup is, I think I will be quite pleased once I get this one in and Running. I`m

100% considering the wiring harness from Wiring Specialties but if I go that route I will upgrade the ECU and other

parts at the same time just so I can order the harness with prefab connections.

@Crytek89 - I was looking at the Borla site last night and was wondering how they sounded on a Nissan. Maybe you can

post a video before and after install to hear the difference.

Cheers & Thanks for the Input :)

Upgrading the ECU, I'm intrigued. Were you thinking a stand alone maybe? I'm running a Link G4 plug in and it has been amazingly adaptive and stable.

As for exhaust I have a 14" Magnaflow with 3" pipe. It's not a discrete sound, so may not be a good choice if you're using it as a daily driver. I have miked video right at the tail pipe if you're interested.

I`m always interested in clips haha.

As for the ECU I`m going to go with a Haltech Elite 1500 with the Wiring Specialties Harness and a RacePak digital

dash. 966 USD for the Harness about 1500 USD for the Haltech so that will have to wait for a at least 2 pays,

Lots of work prior to do anyway.

Currently before I drop this engine I`ve decided to change out the front suspension/Steering components for a

Mustang IFS. So the Craigslist, Kijiji Etc Search is on to find an old Mustang ii someone is selling on the cheap

because I plan on swapping the rear end for a ford 8.8 or 9" as well, Which brings me to a question -

Does anybody know the width (Track Width) of the rear axle on a 720 from inside to inside (Drum to Drum)? The

measurements I have is -

track/tread (front) 1310 51.6

track/tread (rear) 1350 53.1

length 4365 171.9

width 1610 63.4

Thats a sweet 510 you have I`ll have to sit down and read through your thread, Nice video though.

You will like the Haltech, it has lots of cool gizmos. I think you can get the harness cheeper. FR Sorts has the universal SR20det motor and trans harness for $388. Are you having them modify it for you? Even then that seems kind of steep.

Exhaust note is at about 6:38 That's about 6000 rpm. At 7500 it sounds a lot like a sport bike. Again, not a discrete sound.

A shop I`ve bought some parts from already suggested this combo

I haven't used a Vibrant since I was 16 with a Mazda Mx-3 V6 so any advice would be great. I`m sure why it says not

to use the Cat on a turbo engine hence part of the reason I`m asking.

I should have my Borla installed by March - still waiting on my friend to install. His work has slowed down a bit so should be getting close to that soon.

I dunno about before/after though.. my current muffler looks like a grenade went off inside it

Hey Everyone,

Update is that the motor is going in over the next couple weeks. The wiring harness arrived as well. I`ll post some pictures once its in.

Right now I`m looking at picking up an Intercooler and Pipe kit.

See ya soon!
