The firewall at work won't allow me to see pictures. This is really a personal preference. Shifter should be in comfortable reach without leaning over or forward and clear the bench seat. I like close to the steering wheel.

I'll look when I get home.

Only looking because i have too .. wish I could find the thread where I saw the second one... it was someones 720 I like it because it seems move vertical .. I think the first one is from a Z car...

wayno yours even looks to have a different curve.. what's the transmission? Was the shifter modified at all?

It's just a 5 spd shift lever like in the photo below on the right out of a late 620/early 720, it is not bent, most of them look like that.

That photo is of my 1966 Datsun 520 with an L20b/5spd, that is a longshaft 5spd because I planned and did put bucket seats in the truck, that very shift lever issue is why 521 owners want the dogleg 5spd out of the 200SX(77 thru 79) as the shift lever is 5 inches farther forward, but I king-cabbed that 520, so I wasn't worried about the shift lever being farther forward, fact is I was tired of leaning forward to get it in 5th gear on the 521 diesel kingcab.

The late Nissan 720 shift lever I am used to seeing is on the left in the photo below, early Datsun 720 on the right, I don't know where that late shift lever came from in your post with that tight double bend.
