521 Wheels

Hey guys I am new to Ratsun and you are all a great help and know so much about these great little cars and trucks. I bought a 72 521 this past summer and I love it. Its going in for new floors and some other minor rust repair next week. My question is I was wondering if 2005 to 2016 frontier rims will fit on it or is there any mods needed? 6x114.3. It is still stock suspension on the truck with drums. If they do fit I have a set I want to pick up for it this weekend.

Thanks for the help guys. Any ideas on what style factory aluminum 5 spoke  rims will work on it? I like the Nissan frontier style but if they don't work it don't matter. Was going to post picture of what I like but I cant not figure out how to post pictures. Prefer not to do any modification or minimal

Nissan Titan rims are a common favorite. But just keep your eyes open as you drive. If you see a 6 lug vehicle with nice looking stock rims, look them up, get specs on them and we can tell you if those will fit without modification.

First find out exactly what the offset or back spacing is for the 521 stock rim. This is the relation of center line tire position to the wheel mounting surface (WMS). A rim may hold the center line of the tire inward toward the suspension or positive offset, exactly 50/50 over the WMS or slightly out from the WMS, or negative offset. A rim with too much negative offset can move the tire out from under the vehicle fender where it is exposed to being hit by the body as the suspension moves over bumps. Too much positive offset moves the tire inward and may interfere with suspension or rub when turning. Offset (positive or negative) is measured in mm. (millimeters) For example a -20mm (negative offset) is about 3/4" and moves the entire tire that much away from the vehicle center line possibly interfering with the fender. A 1" wider rim with the same offset adds 1/2" to both sides as measured from the middle

Now that you know the 521's offset you can experiment on a different rim selection. Find out the maximum widths and offsets that will work on your truck, rather than liking a rim and trying to make it fit. In a sense it's like selecting a good wife. Your choice must fit, and work or you are doomed to unhappiness..
