la_leo
So I went to pick up the 85 720 today. Couldn't even get it on the trailer because the rear end was locked up. The clutch went to the floor. I think it needs WAY more time and money and work than it's worth. At least I'm only out a few gallons of gas hauling my trailer today and 15 bucks for the shop manual. The guy would probably give me the truck at this point 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Put trans case in neutral? E brake stuck? 1 Quote Link to comment
la_leo
In neutral. E brake was all the way in. Pulled it out and it felt like it wasn't there. A rear end shouldn't just seize up on dry land in a years time right? ??? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Sure. The cables rust. They may have rusted long ago and someone set the brake and it was a one way trip. The best protection for keeping your e brake working is to use it every day. Keeps the rubbing parts shiny. Try taking the drums off. If they won't come off try hammering on them to loosen. 1 Quote Link to comment

wayno
So did you drive back home without it? 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I have had to hammer on the brake drums to free the shoes from the drums. You give up to easy. Quote Link to comment
la_leo
Yeah I left there, I ran out of day light. I'll go back next week when I have time. The seats are broken, clutch goes to the floor, the interior is horrible, every plastic latch in the cab is broken, door panels are trashed. I'm telling you guys this is almost a parts truck. I imagine I could sink 3 grand easy in it just to get it going. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
If it is that bad just forget about it. 2 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I agree with Wayno. I walked away from a 76 620 on Saturday because it was trashed and the guy selling it did not own it, just a smuck trying to make a buck off a POS. Quote Link to comment
DrvnDrvr
Is it an ST 4x4 model? Might have some parts worth something, if the seller is giving it away. Sounds like it's scrape metal. 1 Quote Link to comment
la_leo
It is an ST 4x4. I just wish it was in better shape. The body is ok, I can't seem to post any pics on here. 1 Quote Link to comment

You have to host your photos somewhere like Photobucket, then grab the IMG link and paste it in the reply field, it's kinda a pain anymore. 1 Quote Link to comment
la_leo
ah. couldn't be simple i guess. I don't have photobucket account. I'll try though. I wonder how hard some new door panels would be to find. I can get a molded carpet set for 150 or so brand new. Little latches and what not aren't too hard to find on ebay. Thats what bugs me so much though, is that even if you neglect a car mechanically why would you let an interior get so bad???? I may still get it. I see similar trucks go for 5 to 6 grand, they run, but have issues. So I figure even if I spend 3 grand total I could still have something worth it. I'm telling you guys though, the interior is just gross and tattered. And it's a rare truck because it has power windows and a sunroof, so I'd have to find compatible door panels and what not. 1 Quote Link to comment

la_leo
You figured out the photos. If only figuring out why the rear wheels will not move was that easy! I sure hope it is just the brakes. The truck wouldn't be worth putting in or re building the rear end on.... 1 Quote Link to comment
MaxChlan
It might be worth it just to buy it and part it out if the price is right. If it is $200 like you said in the other post, I can think of all kinds of things that you could sell to make that back without issues. The ST alloys, the cluster (which will have a clock and tach in it), wheel flares, interior dome light, console and gauges, might find a local guy that needs a Tranny or other things mechanical. You COULD drop $1000 or $2000 in interior things to make it look presentable, but if it doesn't drive and you aren't ready to pony up to fix the issues that a sitting-truck has, it may not be worth it to make it drivable. 1 Quote Link to comment
MaxChlan
Hell, I might scoop up those wheels if you ship them to 'Sota  1 Quote Link to comment

Rhino13
If it will be a hunting truck why would you put brand new carpets in it? It would be much easier to rhino-line the floors so you can clean it way easier and not have to worry about it. I would personally make door panels out of masonite and cover them in some material then just bolt the electronic controls to them. A diy job can look really nice. The truck looks great on the outside, lets see the thrashed interior. 2 Quote Link to comment
