Ya you can't make that shit up.... there were so many coincidences like than between us... I should have met my wife 10 yrs sooner and dozens of times... we new similar people, party at the same bars... but always at different times... life is wierd like that..

My best friend of 20+ years was the same way.

All through high school, for years, him and I were 2 minutes apart from meeting each other.

We would tell stories about places were/ people we we're with just to already know the story having either of us show up in the incident right after it happened.

His wife and I went to elementary school together. Shit like that.

A few years ago, him and I found out that his dad and my dad were friends and went out for breakfast a couple times a week together...our parents having no clue for months that they were already connected.

My wife and I were heading down a back road towards home one day and she says oh I dated a guy who lived down this road...

I said wow I dated a girl who lived down this road.... as we drove looking for the house we both happened to point to same one....

At some point my wife dated a guy in high school... many years later I dated that same guys younger sister....

Would have been more weird if you both dated the guy or his sister.

I tried... I did ok, i was hanging out with some guys called "racing905". i was still learning when I sliced my clutch hand open with a razor. Couldn't pull the clutch for 6 months, luckily i missed everything important..

i never got to meet Darius, but he was one of my first and biggest influence to start trying to stunt ride, not to mention he had an insane 240z...

I havent watched that video in 10 plus years... car Just sounds sick.....

I did get to meet someone on darius's crew.. I think his name was lucas... kid was just as crazy... damn near dances around the bike while he's an inch off the 12 o'clock bar.... he came into our stunt spot one night doing just that....

Darius and I came of age together. I won't say grew up because I met him when I was around 19 or 20. We were part of a group of friends that would go out clubbing or partying together, plus we all were into cars. Out of that group of friends, one of them (Dale Sievwright) is the chief test driver for Tesla Motors. Another friend Todd Ho is a driving instructor for Porsche in China, he used to be a professional drifter. So we all came to have jobs in motorsports.

Darius' 240Z is insane and he's had it for a long time. We both ditched a CHP in it one time on the freeway. We caught a lucky break with an off ramp, but we probably wouldn't have needed it, that car was so fast.

On a side note I had to replace my wife's car... needed something newer and more reliable.... so the datsun got some free parts....

Well since it's cold and about to maybe snow again I decided to bring the headlights inside to reassemble them...

Everything got painted already... I have new hardware for the adjusters, but I need some hardware for the retainer rings, and probably a few mounting screws....

Also got a bunch of little parts i need to hopefully reconnect the heater core..

Hopefully I get my parts back from the sandblaster saturday, I also have a friend coming by to help install the windshield and back window... if I'm lucky I'll get the heater core installed and some wiring done this weekend too...

Hoping to test fit the doors and fenders soon.. I know have to straighten the top mounting surface on the passenger side fender and do some minor final prep work and as soon the weather warms up I'll get them painted... also I need to make those rear bumper brackets so I can get those painted up too...

Glass didn't go in this weekend... was alot colder than I was expecting, paranoid I'll break it .. anyhow so I decided to wait.. also didn't feel like freezing my ass off doing the heater core so I got to work on the headlights....

Fully reassembled with new hardware..

Not sure what you see... first time going to one .. only shop nearby....

I still have to do the bed one day so I would be curious to know what you mean..

Looks like they missed a lot - not very clean. On the other hand, you don't want a guy who doesn't know what he's doing warping your panels...

They are a little better then the pics suggest.... they did miss a couple small spots but that is on flat areas I can hit with a grinding wheel. And on some spots the metal is just discolored..and the chrome bumpers well chrome don't come off... but it gives me a good surface for the paint... I needed mostly areas in the creases and places I really couldn't get at... I would honestly give them a 90-95% on the job I asked of them ....

Well made some progress... got the heater core in and that's as far as I got with that... I bought some 90 degree elbows and wouldn't you know they were 12mm not actually 1/2"... just loose enough to make me not wanna use them....

So i spent some money got correct ones on the way...

Also got a cheap rearview mirror, washer fluid bag and a choke cable I'm hoping to use to actuate the heater valve I am gonna use... so I decided to turn my attention to the bumpers..

Came up with this idea...

From there I made some templetes...

I learned a couple things that will probably make the second side go a little better.... but I'm pretty happy with the first side placement.... I was holding the bracket up with the jack to weld the bracket parts together and when I removed it bumper dropped about a 1/8 to 1/4 inch .. so I maybe adjusting that after I do the other side... I'll try to get the passenger side a little tighter fitting and the match the driveside to it....

This is what it looks like ...

I welded the hole for that rubber piece.. and I'm probably gonna weld bolts in where the carriage bolt would go, to mount the bumper to the bracket... right now there's just a bolt in the hole for temporary mounting..

Your suppose to use chrome carriage bolts, but if you going to paint them black then just buy smooth carriage bolts in stainless and paint them black.

The metal flat bar you are using can be bent at an angle in such a way that it will be flat for the connection to the bumperette, I then use thick rubber washers between the bumperette and the bracket I made to keep the outside from being dented when I tighten the nut/bolt down, when I am done and happy with the mounting of the bumperette I exchange the nuts on the carriage bolt for lock nuts, all my bumperettes are held on with custom brackets as I think they hang too low.

Made more progress on the brackets...

Pulled them off to make a couple adjustments. Got them where I want them.. one more test fit then I need to add a little bracing to keep them from wiggling around...

20180213_164435.jpg

Also decided to weld the bolts into the bumperette... got one to fit with minimal effort... wasn't too bad...

20180213_170720.jpg

Also got picked these up to go around the 1/2" hose and seal the firewall holes for the heater core ...

20180213_150202.jpg

The are actually for a valve cover breather.. they fit an 1 1/4 hole and you can trim the center to seal around the hose....

Well the weather is getting tolerable... mid 40s after work means I can get stuff done .... I generally get an hour after work a couple days a week to get work done on the datsun before I gotta get inside to the family...

Well today i smoothed over the holes

20180214_150600.jpg

and welded some bolts into the buppertettes...

20180214_150613.jpg

I was hoping they would be a little tighter to the lights and bottom of the bed but there they are... good enough for inspection...

20180214_153928.jpg

I do have some room on the bracket.... I still might slot the bolt hole and then I can probably get them atleast an 1/8 or so closer....

Thanks about the bumper..

And Ya the whole bed is a little ruff not just the tailgate.. remember it was a trailer before I bought it.

The sides were straight, the mounts were solid and the tailgate functioned properly so I'm not so worried about the cosmetics.. it will fit in with the rest of the dents the truck has... added character....
