Ratwagon1600
Typical lazy arse RW response. So the wheelbase, which I have measured from centre of stub axle to centre of rear hub is approximately 110 inches or in Straylian 2.80 metres. Ill Google this soon. My Egay go to supplier, given these bits arent available here is... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-720-short-bed-4-hook-ute-set-hand-brake-cable-NEW-handbrake-N-S-truck-/361248276826 Thanks in advance for any response, though im pretty sure its short wheelbase. Edit: And..... Picked up this afternoon $100 worth (fucking expensive!!!!) of urethane rear leaf spring shackle bushes. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I quit tracking the expenses incurred on my 520 after I was screwed for $2,000 by a painter/body beater. If you worry about the cost you are likely not going to finish it. Stop doing the math and enjoy the transformation. This will be a fun and enjoyable journey! Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
A lot of stuff to update with this build. Straylian compliance plate which needs to be fitted in the engine bay says LW. Question solved. 2 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
RW I have a 1980 standard cab short bed tray that I would give you if you want it. The only thing is you would have to pay shipping. It is silver and has a sweet tailgate. Quote Link to comment

I was thinking of making an ulralight rear bed for it but with the supercharged V6 swap now on track Im going to need some weight in the back to keep the rear wheels glued to the ground. 1 Quote Link to comment

Ratwagon1600
Just doing some research on the donor car. Original specs were 229 hp with a car that weighs approximately 3350lbs. Once its shoehorned into the 720 this should make for something that will fry tyres quite nicely! Off to look at possible power steering options. 3 Quote Link to comment

Ratwagon1600
Registration paid today so I can finally start driving it (woohoo). Pulled the motor and gearbox out of the donor car on the weekend so now have a pile of V6 supercharged goodness waiting for a bit of love. Registration cost me $1236 for a year so need to save a few pennies and order the conversion kit which will take a couple of weeks for the manufacturer to make (they don't keep them on the shelf). Things are slowly moving forward  2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
What! $1236 per year? I'd have to pick up a part time job just to register my cars. 2 Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
^^^^^ Yup, we get arse raped down here on vehicle registration. It's a major revenue source for the local Gubment, and in the Territory (State) I live in there is very poor public transport infrastructure so the Gubment knows we have to rely on cars, hence the exorbitant registration costs. Just rechecked the receipt, $1223 and 70 cents. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I could register and smog test my 86 king cab for 40 years and have enough left over to fill the gas tank!!! Damn Dude now I know what they mean by "Down Under"!!!! LOL 1 Quote Link to comment
