Yours probably came with ordinary organic pads which are very good for what they do.... low rotor wear but they wear out quicker, cheap, good grip when cold. Semi metallic would be an upgrade but with this comes increased rotor wear as you increase the performance level upward and they are much more expensive. Everything is a trade off.

BEST

This depends on what you need. if daily driving you don't need 'racing pads' that never get hot enough to work right. Premium pads also might tend to wear your rotors out faster. Get the best 'fit' for what you really need them for.

But you could wash you vehicle more than once every 6 months.

It comes down to what is good enough for your needs. Increased friction I would imagine has accelerated wear of parts so you must balance this increased cost and more frequent replacement of your rotors against the increased stopping power, if any. Do you really need 'racing' pads good for 300kph? For a daily driver you want a pad that works instantly and reliably through a variety of temps and weather. Has to give good mileage and a predictable 'feel'. If you drive more on the highway maybe a more aggressive pad would perhaps be better.
