Whats up fellas, im going crazy from doing all this research on installing a R200 into a 510.. Ive had the car for over 10 years not knowing my goals for it doing little work here and there and ive had enough, time to get it going. I built a ka24det for a buddy of mine early this year dynoed at 426whp and 392 torque @ 22 psi on 93 octane. it has room for more and eventually plan on tying to get close to the 500 club. He wrecked the car and since then has moved to India to write his thesis statement for his Ph.D... smart fucker and his family's loaded.. he pretty much just gave me the car and i damn near shit my pants. SOO the motors going in the DIME!!

So im thinking r200 long nose. the s13 has a CLSD unit in it. I know the lsd can be adapted to the r200 long nose with the help of shims or i can have bolts machined, what im confused about is stub axles?? i read certain stub axles wont work with this lsd swap? also gear ratios, what r200 out of what car had what gear ratio??? what gear ratio would be recommended behind a s13 5 speed?maybe a 4.11? I bought a Wolfcreek CV conversion kit a few months ago and need to get the ball rolling. Ive read page after page on multiple boards thinking i kinda got if figured out but now im just confused lol... so anyone running a r200 with lsd feel free to point a brotha in the the right direction..

im not too sure they can handle 500 horse? i know the r200 is big and heavy but id rather have something that can handle abuse, i gave some thought about a solid axle 4 link but dont want to butcher the car, i want to keep the IRS. i still dont know what my intentions for this build are lol, all i know is i have a nice motor and a good platform the start with.

An R200 will take a thousand HP, and an R180 will take the 500 just fine, unless you are running 15" wide slicks on the back, and plan on doing clutch dumps at the strip, at which time you will probably snap the wheel flanges off anyway.

An R180 bolts in.

R200s came in 29, 30, and 31 tooth spline versions. Being from an S13, it most likely takes the 29t shafts.

But not just any. You can't use 29t shafts from a viscous LSD, as they are odd-balls, but any open, or clsd shaft will work.

The S12 turbo had 4.11 long nose R-200 open differential. If you want 4.375 or 4.625 try the C-200 from the Late 720 4x4 and the D21. There was some info on the net for swapping the ring and pinion into the R.

R-180 is plenty strong and a reasonable tire will act like a fuse and spin rather than break things.
