gene knight
I have been dealing with a electrical issue, I used to have all my lights working but now 1 reverse light not working, I have power going to the bulb socket, checked with new bulb, checked ground wires, even added a wire from tali light metal frame to frame on truck, the other reverse light works fine Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Bulb may not be seated down in the socket and touching the contact. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Bulb could be 180* or incorrect bulb? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I believe the reverse lamp has a single bottom contact and filament so 180 out probably won't matter. If you have verified power and ground it has to work. 1 Quote Link to comment
gene knight
I have tried both ways of inserting bulb in and I am using the single contact bulb-1156 i think that is the correct bulb or maybe it is 1157. I am able to touch socket contact inside with test light and it lights up, so when I insert bulb and touch side of bulb metal housing with test light, the test light again lights up Quote Link to comment
Doctor510
Check to be sure that there is a spring UNDER the center electrical contact piece IN the socket. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
center contack(the ground) is it actually grounded????? Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Try another lamp (bulb). Clean any rust, or corrosion from inside the socket. There is a spring under the plastic washer at the bottom of the lamp socket, make sure it is not broken. You should be able to push the hot wire out of the socket, from the back, enough to see the spring. 1 Quote Link to comment
gene knight
i don't understand it, they all use to work b4 and i have not done anything electrical wise for them not to work Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
That contact at the bottom of the socket should be high enough for the bulb to touch when inserted. 1 Quote Link to comment
Doctor510
i don't understand it, they all use to work b4 and i have not done anything electrical wise for them not to work Did you take them apart to clean them? Quote Link to comment
gene knight
Plastic is old and brittle, checked the positive contact and spring, I'm thinking it is ground wires soldered to the socket housing cuz I tried another wired grounded at tali light frame to the bulb socket and it works, so my soldering skills are not great when trying to resolder the OG wire to socket. DOC510, I CAN BRING IT TO YOU TO RESOLVER IT FOR THURSDAY 1 Quote Link to comment
Doctor510
Please DO NOT BRING IT TO ME, you already said that if you mess with it, it works, go with your fix. Quote Link to comment
gene knight
well i was able to fix my issue it seems that the ground wire to light bulb socket was not soldered correctly and i repaired it 2 Quote Link to comment
