debugish
Hi, I'm having issues with the left breaklights on my datsun 620 turning on. I've posted a video describing the issue and what i've done here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6Ns1M850fU Any help greatly appreciated! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
On the left side the LightGreen/Red stripe wire must have power on it for the brake/turn lights to be on. Quote Link to comment
debugish
It worked: Quote Link to comment
debugish
Then it didn't: https://youtu.be/3s6rZREkdQM?t=79 I'm no longer hearing anything from the flasher, so going to replace that again. :| Quote Link to comment
debugish
Put in a replacement flasher and no luck. No longer getting any signaling... all weird because i haven't really done too much since my initial post. Quote Link to comment

debugish
Ordering a different flasher just in case the original was faulty: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009WQP5XK Crazy how my brake light issue all the sudden became a turning signal issue. Quote Link to comment
vicdat
I had a similar issue on my 79 king cab and it was a wire in the turn indicator had come slightly unsoldered. I'd check those wires... Vic Quote Link to comment
debugish
Hey Vic, do you mean the indicators within the dash or the contacts of the turning signal switch within the st? I had an intuition that could be an issue... trying a couple of things this morning but if i have no luck i'll start figuring out how to get to those sodering points / bulbs for the indicators in the dash. datzenmike
The 4 way flasher is a two position switch. In the OFF position the turn signal flasher is connected to turn signals. Make a L or R turn and they work. In the ON position the turn signals are disconnected and the 4 way flasher is connected to all turn signal bulbs and they flash. If the 4 way is OFF and the turn signals potentially connected, we move to the turn signals..... The brake lamps and the turn signals use the same bulbs. You can't be signaling L or R and have the brakes on or all will flash. To work properly they have to take turns being used. To remedy this the turn signal (inside the steering column) has a lever inside that disconnects the brake signal and connects the turn signal on the side that is selected. When the turn lever returns to the neutral position the turn flasher is disconnected and the brake signal connected. So.... in operation lets say you and braking for a turn and your brakes lights are all on an working. You push the turn signal lever to the LEFT. As you do so the brake signal for the left side disconnects and at the same time the turn flasher is connected. You now have a flashing left hand turn indicated and the right side is just the brake light. If you finish the left turn and the turn signal arm returns to the off position the left side lights are disconnected to the turn flasher unit and the brake signal returned. Both sides at the back are now brake lights. If you let off the brake while turning left the right goes out and the left side just continues to flash. Quote Link to comment
