What the hell do I have here?

I called pierce manifold to see if they had a kit for my 86 carbed 720.

Assured me that they had the right kit and this is what I got. Adapter plate doesn't fit. throttle cable bracket doesn't look like any others that I've seen on 720s.

Has anyone ever ordered the right kit from them?

Thanks for the reply. Indeed built in 85 with a carb.thanks again.

What is the build date??? It's on the driver's door jam.

Can you take a picture of your intake where the carb sits???? The Throttle body intake is vastly different.

Contact pierce manifolds.  Did you specify when you ordered you had a 1986 720 carbureted truck.  I have a pierce manifold Weber 32/36 I purchased 5 years ago on my 1986 carbureted 720 an it is still going strong.

I take the throttle linkage of the irignal carb and put it on the Weber.  Be careful not to over tighten the nut and be sure to use the bendable lock down washer.

Sounds like you were shipped the wrong kit.  Mistakes happen.  I quit ordering from Redline as I was shipped wrong parts to often.

It looks like you have the similar intake and carb my truck has. It was like that when I got it. it had new studs implanted to deal with the different bolt pattern. It has since had a lot of issues and Im trying to finish up with a z24engine swap. The old engine started to backfire from the intake and nothing else, it had no compression. The new one isn't running and im trying to figure out why. I hope I dont need a new carb or something bigger. I spent all my money on the engine.

Too late now but did you check the valve clearance on the old engine? Tight valves = low or no compression.

The new engine you bought was it running? Did you see it running? Never buy something that can't be started and run.

Do you still have the old engine?

Its a rebuild that I trust. I don't have the old one, it had messed up pistons as well as valves for sure. Its a wonder it was ever running the way it was. Almost as strange as why this new one is not running.

I know its getting spark and that the timing is correct. I know it has compression. The fuel pump works great so I think its the carburetor that is the problem. I need to find a manual for it as well as some sort of air filter situation that fits.

Would backfiring through the intake damage or compromise a carb?
