TDCTDI
I just picked up a 620 pick up that was used as a farm truck, parked & forgotten. I plan to get it running, driving & stopping, lowering it & clear coating it. I'll post pics if someone can walk me through it. Thanks in advance, Chris. 1 Quote Link to comment

TDCTDI
The guys I got it from dragged it 2 miles to get it home. 3 of the tires blew on the way. 2 Quote Link to comment
TDCTDI
It runs, but will need a carb rebuild. The PO said "The brakes are a little soft, you'll need to bleed them". 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Understatement. Looks like 4 wheel drums so they need to be adjusted snugger. As they wear down the shoes have to travel farther and farther to meet the drum and that eats up pedal pedal travel. That's some patina right there... Quote Link to comment
dgi
Congrats.... I had posted this one on the East Cost eBay & Craigslist topic in General Discussion a few days back. I said "be the king of patina" http://community.ratsun.net/topic/11414-east-coast-craigs-list-finds-resurrected-from-old-classifieds/page-56?do=findComment&comment=1418270 post #1101 I believe. dgi 1 Quote Link to comment
TDCTDI
Thanks, it was only 6 miles from where I work. For being a NC vehicle there's very little actual rust. As far as the brakes go, it's been sitting since the 80s, I'm surprised they worked at all. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
buy alot of fuel filters bfore thqt carb goes bad if not already. Buy a weber 32/36 cause that tank must be fukl of junk and varnish. olddatsuns.com read the tech section. seems you have the old style rad also with the return on the passenger side. 1 Quote Link to comment
dgi
@TDCTDI hainz is probably correct about the tank. But, I prefer to leave the original carb, maybe just rebuild it if necessary. The first thing I do on old Datsuns is pull the fuel tank, take it to my radiator shop and have them boil it out and reline it. Then I blow the fuel lines out, fill them with a solvent, let set for a day, and blow them out again. Then I replace all the rubber lines, the fuel filter, and reinstall the tank. I also usually clean out the carb's fuel bowl with carb cleaner, easy to do by taking off the glass cover, and I'm good to go. You are certainly going to need to go through the braking system. I'm over in the Triad, about 90 miles away it sounds like. Glad to see another NC Datsun owner. dgi Quote Link to comment
TDCTDI
Thanks dgi, I know it's probably blasphemous but I was less concerned about the make & model as I was totally enamored with the condition & look of the body. Now I get to see how a set of hurricanes fit. I've got a set of 15x6 & a set of 15x10, I'd love to do a staggered set. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Paint rims white and Koumos stock tires with the small white strip.!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
TDCTDI
What, no 13" reverse 100 spokes with mustard & mayos? Quote Link to comment
dgi
Take a look at this link to see a 620 with hurricane wheels. Never thought about them on a truck myself, but I've seen and owned them on Z cars. http://rustypandasgarage.tumblr.com/ 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
all Hurricanes need to be recycled. Stock brother!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Also looks like rolled fender at the back... to me, a no no. Tires fit the truck, NOT truck fits the tires. Correct offset would fix this unless maxed out.... then get narrower rims. I agree you can't go wrong with stock rims... you just can't. 1 Quote Link to comment

TDCTDI
Not to worry, I'm not going to alter the body, & it's pretty easy to bolt the stockers back up. The hurricanes are period correct & at least they're not those unilug crap. Quote Link to comment
Draker
Nice lookin truck. Bring it back from the dead! Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
As far as the brakes go, it's been sitting since the 80s, I'm surprised they worked at all. They probably won't for long... ^_^ 3 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
yes period correct but you ever see the movie Covette Summer? 1 Quote Link to comment
TDCTDI
yes period correct but you ever see the movie Covette Summer? I loved that movie when I was a kid. I always loved hanging out in junk yards looking for parts/projects. 1 Quote Link to comment
TDCTDI
WOOHOO! The title finally made it so now I can spend some money on it. I tried test fitting the wheels I had & the 15x10s won't fit in the fenders, which wouldn't be so bad if I didn't plan on lowering it a bit or wanted to install flares(but you all knew that.). The other set I have are 15x8, not 6 as I remembered, oh well, they fit, now to get tires. 1 Quote Link to comment
TDCTDI
Well, parts are showing up, & I got new tires mounted. I ordered a new master cylinder, all four wheel cylinders, brake shoes, hoses, a carb rebuild kit, lug nuts, & new gaskets for the windshield & back window. 1 Quote Link to comment
