85"720
What the widest tire size can you put on the stock 14" rims. Truck is at stock ride height. Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Let us know the width. should be stamped on the rim Quote Link to comment
Rjawm
Pretty sure the stock steelies are 14x6 and came with 195/75-14 on them. At least that's what all my 720's have had as "original" setups. I've seen 205/75-14 mounted on the factory wheels, but I don't know if I'd go much wider then that with the taller profile. Might get away with a 215/60-14 (if you can find one) but with your truck at stock height, I don't really see the gain. Quote Link to comment
85"720
I'm pretty sure they're 14x6. So safe bet is 205/75/14? I found a tire for 215/60/14 would it fit tho? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
For the '84 720... the '85 would be similar.... . They take 5.0 J X 14 and 40mm offset steel rims with P195, and 5.5 JJ X 14" 35mm offset aluminum mags with205/75R14s these are 7.68" and 8" wide tires Optionally you can get 5.5 K X 15" with 40mm offset and 6.0 JJ X 15" with 34mm offset with P215/75R15 which are 8.5" wide. datzenmike
Keep the same 25"? height so your speedometer stays accurate and your acceleration performance is unaffected. Your truck, so if you want wide, get what ever you like. An old trick is to run narrower ones on the front. Besides being easier to turn in parking lots it also gives the illusion the the rears are even bigger than they are. Stock 6.6" on the fronts and 9" on the back? Up to you. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
It might. Wider are heavier, harder to steer and have increased rolling resistance. If you need better handling try lowering the center of gravity a couple of inches. Replace the shocks and stiffen the springs.. Quote Link to comment
