bushcat
I have the corner of the truck bed nearest the cab rusted out. I'm think of posting a gig on craigslist to try and get a welder to fix this? What would be involved in something like this? I was thinking of having him weld some sheet metal in the corner and then rhino line the entire bed. Anybody have a similar problem? 1 Quote Link to comment

bushcat
Yeah, that may help. I will post tomorrow when I have the truck back in my possession. 1 Quote Link to comment
bushcat
Here is a picture... https://flic.kr/p/MKNKtZ I looked for plastic bed liners but can't find any for my year. Any other solutions? Quote Link to comment
zookeeper
So was the piece of wood screwed in to reinforce it for the time being? does it flex closer together much by hand? I did a fix like that with a strip of steel i got from a junk filing cabinet. I sanded and wire brushed the rust off, then used clamps and wooded wedges to get everything straight and in position, then tack welded the piece of steel three times on every peak and valley of the corrugated part. After that I brazed a nice fillet, wire brushed again with a grinder, and painted with a spray can of rubberizer. welding all the way across would be tricky and hard not to warp everything. Tack and braze! it looked legit. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Take the bed off if you want to really get at it. The rust prevention really needs to be on both sides or it will just rust through again. Quote Link to comment
Rick-rat
You can also use an old license plate like they did on the Cantby truck 1 Quote Link to comment
