guyster
When I removed my fenders on both my 510 and 120Y, I found two different materials. The 510 had a felt strip that adhered to the body to prevent the fender from rubbing. The 120Y, which had been rebuilt, had more of a spray foam/rubbery material. What do y'all use when replacing that material? 1 Quote Link to comment

MikeRL411
I made a replacement fender to body gasket for my 411 by using a roll of rubber electricians tape bought at Home Depot. It is the right thickness and the glue area is protected by a red vinyl peel off tape and by following the fender contact area and careful trimming [don't cut your paint layer] you can completely fill the original fender gasket area. 1 Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
It's called 'fender welt', or 'fender welting', and is sold by a lot of people, like JC Whitney, Speedway Motors, and a lot of other places. Just google it. 1 Quote Link to comment
guyster
I'm trying this product (links to Home Depot). Not sure if the thickness will be right, but will let you know. Quote Link to comment
zed1
The Home Depot product appears to be open cell foam. Consider this closed cell EDPM foam: http://www.autozone.com/sealants-glues-adhesives-and-tape/weatherstrip/metro-black-super-weatherstrip/191113_0_0/?checkfit=true Keith Quote Link to comment
tr8er
The electricians splice tape is a good idea. Not electrical tape, but splice tape. Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
The electricians splice tape is a good idea. Not electrical tape, but splice tape. You have broken the code! Splice tape, not electrical tape. Butt adjacent runs and trim carefully. Almost better than the factory supplied original gasket. Quote Link to comment
