1979 Datsun/Nissan 620 pickup

I aquired a 1979 620 truck through a family death. The truck was in rough shape to say the least. Not much rust at all but never cared for. I was a California truck cause it has all the smog pumps and junk still on it. Not connected but there. Truck runs great and I just replaced the seat, installed dash cover, steering wheel, and just the other day got it back from paint. Replaced the door seals and window weather strips. Still working on putting it back together.

Have a question for you folks out there. I would like to take off all the California emissions stuff but I need a standard manifold to replace the one that's on there. Would anyone be interested in my old hardware and anyone know where I may get a stock non California manifold? Also looking for a video on how the front brake pads are replaced. Tried Youtube but no luck.

I would like to sell the truck once I get it where I want it. Currently licensed in NC.

Thanks

All trucks have the smog pump so not necessarily a California truck. By your own admission it runs great, so why mess with it and cause problems, because this is what will happen. It's running don't go changing anything it won't run any better.

Then when you get it where YOU want it, you're going to sell it???? WTF? Why fuck with it then sell????????? It's worth more now than when you screw it up and add problems.

Thanks for the info. I was told by someone else that only California trucks had the smog junk on it. Just thought if someone else wanted this stuff I would be willing to let it go. It's not hooked up anyway.

I have 3 other trucks and cars and 5 boats. Don't really need another toy. I wanted to get it fixed up because I knew the guy that died couldn't afford to do it. Just wanted to do it for him. Besides it gives me something to do besides fish. It is a nice truck but I just don't really have anyplace to keep it where it won't get all screwed up sitting out side.

I fix up boats and sometimes cars to sell anyway so doing this to this truck just gave me one more thing to do.

Well if you sell and you want to advertise here you have to do it in our Classifieds Section.... http://community.ratsun.net/classifieds/category/15-trucks/?sort_key=date_added&sort_order=desc

Posting pictures?..... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/54932-photobucket-ratsun/

I would love to fish and work on Datsuns all day. But I would need fishing lessons.

and will be worth less after I dick with it ??

You two are dicks.

So you have a 37 year old truck that doesn't need to be "dicked with" from time to time? You have never broke something while trying to fix it or the part next to it? Do either of you have a Weber carb on your trucks? Why did you "dick" with it? Do you like adding problems that don't exist?

:fu:  :fu:

Pretty cool of you to refresh the truck in his honor. For what it's worth, if your planning on selling the truck anyway, I would leave it on in case the next owner needs it to be smog legal. If that is NOT an issue for you, the intake you want is an early L16 intake.

OK, enough opinions, BRING ON THE PICS!!!!!

Just for the record, I'm not "Dicking wit it or screwing it up or adding problems". I'm trying to fix what's broken. The only thing I modified was the steering wheel. I had a racing wheel already so why buy

another one? It needed a dash cover, original dash top was trashed. Glove box has a single household door hinge on it so I've replaced it with a hinge that looks and works great. The seat cover was so bad he was sitting on a baby mattress so the springs didn't poke him in the butt. The guy that does my boat interiors replaced the foam and cover on the seat for $150.00. Needed a coil and the timing was off. Rear breaks are in great shape but the front disk pads are down to about 20%. Have them, just not replaced them yet. Had it painted and replaced the window and door seals. It has an exhaust leak from the manifold so I need to get that fixed next. Only fixing the broken.

Just got back from fishing and leaving again for a couple days to the coast. When I get back I'll figure out how to post photos. Thanks King Rat for your link to the adding photos. Hope to get those added in a few short days.

Thanks.

Everyone that's seen it has told me that knowing me, your going to keep it. For now is't just another project. It is nice, but I don't want to spend a ton of money on it. Don't want to spend more than it's worth. What ever that happens to be.

it's only worth the value you put to it. i have spent more than what i paid for my truck in parts, mechanic working it, and my own personal time and energy, so much so that i've lost track. if anyone were to offer me anything for her i'd probably scoff and laugh in their faces if it wasn't upwards of 20k.

i also have 2 other trucks so if they really want a project they can offer on those

on that note, that's a very nice truck you've built there. and it's been in your family for this long already, why not hold onto and pass on to the next generation?

I would guess a top selling price of around $4500. Running, driving, looking like that, and lowered a little. There's lots of variables in that, but I'm not even sure it would get that high, unless maybe in California? Or back east?

The dash cap fit pretty good. I had to do some cutting around the grove box opening. Other than that I give it 4 out of 5. Its a 3/4 cover. Some don't come down as far as this one. Have to really know what your getting before you order.

I think in some parts here in Southern California, some would ask $5-6K,
