macgyver
I'm looking at what looks like a brace or a roll bar but maybe a seat belt harness bar? Not sure what it attaches to but I could use something like this in my ride. Out of the way of the rear seats/passengers?? Or maybe it's not... Quote Link to comment

G-Duax
Those are 'feel good' bars, meant for people who know nothing about chassis design. Go just ahead of the rear window, and supposed to add to chassis stiffness. Because they have heim joints on each end, as the only attachment, they do NOTHING ! But they work great to hang cloths on, as Mike said, or to dry beach towels as you drive home from a day of swimming. DO NOT attach any harness to it, you will die !! And the 'harness bar' that mattndew76 showed, are also a VERY BAD idea. They will not support shoulder harnesses in even a 35mph frontal impact. Here is a Sparco 'harness bar' that collapsed, and killed a driver at an event. They are total bull shit ! 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If traveling at 30 MPH and you weigh 200 pounds and you hit something that stops your car AND you are wearing a well designed seat belt that decelerates and stops YOU in a one foot of distance the force exerted is just over 3 tons. Now tell me that you can hang TWO 510s, each with four 200 pound adults in it from that bar. How about 50 MPH? everyone drives at least that on the highway... The force jumps to over 8 1/3 tons. Street racing at 80 MPH into a pole?... 21 tons! Oh you have a really good secure harness that limits the stopping distance to 1/2 a foot .... almost 43 tons. Almost 20 empty Datsun 510s 2 Quote Link to comment

INDY510
there is nothing structural right there .... it's just a flat piece of 20ag and definitely not strong enough for seat belts 2 Quote Link to comment
