DatMo
So I was about to put some fluid into my car after the last flush and I realized I don't have any bolts for my 72 510 top hat thermostat housing. I'm not sure how long the bolts are supposed to be nor the thread size. They look like an m10? I was wondering if anyone knows what lengths they're supposed to be as well as thread? Thanks! Doctor510
M8x1.25 measure the thickness of the water outlet flange and add about 10mm. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
take the top of the housing to a good Hardware store and place the bolts in and see the thread bottom till its even. You can eyeball the thread depth in the lower housing. I use antiseize on those bolts also as they will rot(rust) in there 1 Quote Link to comment
racerx
Just make sure that the one closer to the timing chain is shorter so that it does not hit the timing chain 1 Quote Link to comment

G-Duax
M8x1.25 measure the thickness of the water outlet flange and add about 10mm. Add 16mm........ Any fastener going into aluminum needs at least 2x the diameter (8mm) of thread engagement. I like 2.5x myself. I also use nothing but stainless bolts any more, to rid myself of the rust problem. 1 Quote Link to comment
