Sir do you know how fast you were going?

Honestly officer I have no idea, but it snapped the needle off the speedometer.

At least when my 1955 Chevy Bel Aire was blasted by a hurricane wind from the rear the needle hit a peg and was bent from that night on!

^ Thanks David!

I know 120 on the speedo is 128 ish gps.  My guess is 155+/- :)

It also broke the snub/tail of the tranny.  The vibrations are what made me stop to be honest.  It had more :) :)

I didnt see the crack in the snub till I looked at the pictures :o

Looks like im down for a bit.  Booo... it was just getting sorted/fun!!!

I think the driveshaft is way too short.

It needs to be at least 2" longer I feel.

Edit:  ^ That is an Rx7 Tranny.

Also, I am now thoroughly rust protected :)

Fits all 74-85 Rx2, Rx3, & Rx7s.

Transmission tailshaft bushings often seize due to the high rpm seen in competition. The only way to avoid these failures is to install a needle bearing in place of the bushing. Fitment of the needle bearing requires machining out the inside diameter of the tailshaft housing. The tailshaft bearing kit includes needle bearing, snap ring and information regarding the tailshaft machining. Use of a hardened competition driveshaft yoke (Part #4352-25-130) is required with this modification.

Lol.  competition...

Yeah.  Gonna pull the trans, swap in another, replace the tail bearing, and get another driveshaft to cut down/lengthen to the proper size.

Expensive fun run :)

Could have been worse.  Snub could have broken off, spearing the driveshaft into the pavement!

Lol. It kind of didnt :)

Vibrations weren't anything crazy, but the car is sorted pretty well/everything new. (Edit: untill the driveshaft)

Its crazy. Picked up a stock Rx7 drivshaft, and its the perfect length... why did they eff with it...???

Clipped a god damn hawk carrying a bunny rabbit that same day!  I panic braked at at least 110 and it stayed pretty damn straight.  Al little high speed wiggle.  Went down to 65 pretty well on stock brakes.  I was extremely happy.  I have wilwood upgrades, but have not yet installed :)

The fuker would have hit me dead on in the windshield.  The bunny clipped the a pillar by the antenna, and I thought it was toast.  But not even a mark!

Have to grind out the "non-replaceable" u-joints on the rx7.  Im thinking I can just put the datsun end yoke on the rx7 shaft.  Have to open up the datsun yoke a bit get the rx7 replacement u joint to press in. Then get it balanced.

Ahh Datsun...

Probably doesn't have tires rated for that speed either.

G-Duax,

I build cars for a "living"

I am not retarded.  I am not driving on biasplys.

Tires are H speed rated.  Thats good enough for me :)  They have approx. 3000 miles on them, and 1 track day.

Driveshaft will be back to me from a drive shaft shop Friday.  New trans is in.

I dont hand back a customers car with out a thorough shake down.  Some problems dont arise utill they do!

I was just being extra thorough with mine that night :)
