NC280z
Good afternoon all, I recently purchased a 3-piece spoiler for my Z from a seller in Canada, and upon arrival found that the portion that mounts to the hatch is curved so much in the center that it won't sit flush, and has enough of a gap that I could fit a wooden ruler between it and the hatch. Is it possible to reform fiberglass that appears to have already been cured? I'd really like to get this to mount to my Z, but it looks like the seller did a poor job making it and that it may be beyond repair. I've heard of individuals using heat-guns to reform some types of fiberglass, but this spoiler does not have any flex in it whatsoever, and sounds like it might crack if I were to mount it in its current condition. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Quote Link to comment
Draker
I think your only option is to take it to a body shop that works with fiber glass and see what they can do.. if anything. You can't really re-form it.. you just have to modify it and reglass it... if it's salvageable. Quote Link to comment
FiveSeventyZee
got any pictures of it? depending on construction it may have more flex than it seems. Unfortunately if its chop mat you may be SOL without essentially redoing the layup in that portion of the part. Quote Link to comment
NC280z
It looks like chop-mat glass. The seller has an eBay store "showcarsrob" and another site at showcars fiberglass. Both have bad reviews from customers that ordered parts he fabricated. I should've done more research before buying, d'oh! Quote Link to comment
FiveSeventyZee
if its chop mat definitely dont try to flex it too much haha. that stuffs fairly brittle compared to twill. you may be able to buy a fiberglass repair kit and patch that section. Quote Link to comment
