I need some steering wheel help. I will post picks of what I have on Friday when I get home. The horn ring/button is the issue. I have searched the forum and Google. I did find a post from DanielC. That I can't seem to locate again.

I have 2 different models it appears looking at carpartsmanual.

My wheel is an IZUMI from what I can tell. The green outline is what I have.

The red is the button parts I have.

here are some pics of what I have. I think the horn bar may be the wrong one from looking at another post. The screw locations of both the wheel and the horn bar are in the same location. I think they need to be offset. Let me know any info you have.

Here is a link to a post from DanielC that I am using as one refference.

Looking for some help on front spindle info.

I was inspecting the front brakes and found that one of the prior owners may have used the wrong thread nut to secure the wheel bearing. The threads are a little buggered so I was going to try and clean it up with a die. The thread pitch and size are tough to nail down. the good side looks to be 19mm X1.25 I think. I thought it was going to be SAE, but a 3/4 X 16 fine thread does not fit. The spindle is 18.85mm .74 in measured by my callipers.

Does anyone know what the nut size and Pitch are?

I am working hard to get the Datsun running today. I have a question if any of you have a moment. I have read too many threads on wiring my upgraded alternator and want to confirm something.

The wires that goes to the alternator. I have them hooked up

Black with yellow Tracer to the blade connection on the starter.

The white with the black tracer to the "L" on the Alternator.

Yellow to the "S" on the Alternator

Black is to the ground. Body of the alternator and I also ran a ground from that spot to the engine block ground.

Yellow with black tracer to the oil pressure sender.

"B" from the alternator to the lug on the starter

White? I think it goes to the lug on the starter. Is that correct?

I did take looks of pics when I too it apart...but I lost that phone unfortunately

Here is a pic of the writes I have from the harness.

  • 4 weeks later...

I have been working sporadically on the truck in the last month. I haven't posted the progress as it has only been short stints and I did not take the time to write anything up.

The truck has the Weber 32/36 on it and it started right away and is running very well. The hitachi had quite a flat spot and idled rough.

I have only used the Weber air cleaner so far and plan on modifying the stock unit later this year.

We painted the wheels and mounted fresh rubber. I will post some pics when I get back home next week.

A new exhaust from just ahead of the muffler to the back.

We changed all the fluids and found that the rear diff has a leak about midway up. I have the new gasket and will pull the axles and remove the diff to fix that next week. New axle seals ( outer )as well.
