620 Tail light bar

Ok who's the resident 620 electrical guru? I have made myself a third brake light turn signal bar for my truck. I found the harness with 5 wires coming out. Thought this should be easy, 1, ground. 2, running. 3, brake. 4, left. 5, right... nope! Right takes power from brake so when I turn right the brake lights flash. And when I brake everything comes on. Even left. Any ideas?

Brake lamps share the turn signal on that side. In the steering column there is a switch that disconnects the brake on the side that's turning to allow the bulb to flash. When the turn switch returns the brake is reconnected. For a brake only signal you will need to run a wire from the brake lamp switch on the brake pedal.

If you have three lamps all three will light when braking.

On a left turn only the left lamp will flash.

On a left turn while braking the left will flash plus the middle and right lamp will come on and stay on with the brakes.

I think.

Nothing to fix but if you mean how would I wire it up?

Of the 5 wires, these are not used...

Black is ground
Red/Black is back up lamps
Green/Blue is the running lights, side marker and license plate lamp

These are the ones you want...

Light Green/Black (stripe) is the brake and Right turn indicator
Light Green/Red (stripe) is the brake and Left turn indicator.

Forget the three lamp I mentioned earlier. (what was I thinking) You will have two lamps, one for Left and one for Right, or as many lamps on each side as you like.  When not turning, all will light when braking. If turning, only the turn side will flash. If braking while turning the turn side will continue to flash and the other side will light with the brakes.

The lamps can simply be grounded on the other side or you can connect to the Black ground wire.
