There are the shorter 71C from the D-21 Hardbody around 30-32" and then there's the 71Cs from the 240sx which are 34"???inches long. I would love to have one to measure.

The zx 5 speed is 31.5" long.

Assume the N American dogleg as there are imported ones out there that are the same length as the 71B. I have one. This would make the D21 about 27 to 27 1/2" long then. I would have thought closer to 30".

240 trannys are really long. Im using a D21 trans in my 210 and the shifter was almost in the same spot as the stock A series 5spd. I measure the 240 ka trans once i forgot how long it was for some reason i remember the 240 shifter being like 9 inches farther back than the A series.

Tranny measurements. .. (mine, so maybe to spot on, but damn close.)

Bell to dust shield..
S14 KA -- 33 1/2"
Longtail (L) 5spd -- 31 1/4"
Track KA/Z24 30 1/2"

Bell to output shafts
S14 KA -- 33 5/16"
Longtail 5spd (L) -- 31 1/2"
Truck KA/Z24 -- 29 15/16"

Shifter hole location
S14 KA -- 31 1/2"
Longtail 5spd (L) -- 29"
Truck KA/Z24 -- 26"

I should go back a measure with a straight edge...

YES!!! The 71B is precisely 31.5". Stand the tranny up on two chunks of 2x4. Place a straight edge across the output and measure down vertically to the front edge of the bell. Tape must be parallel with the center line of the transmission. A sloping measurement is always longer.
