datzenmike
I have a SS vernier, one of my oldest tools. Paid $10 in '80 money at a yard sale. I see them in tool houses for $4 and made of plastic. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
You can get a digital micrometer at harbor freight for like 7 bucks most days. Had mine many years. Still great money spent. Quote Link to comment

67_1600
you have to wiggle the hub/rotor assembly a little to get it to slide down on spindle all the way. try that I had the same issue when I first went to put mine together and I just didn't have the bearing lined up quite right. I thought at first I had the wrong bearings, but they were the right ones but there is very little tolerance and will seem too small if not slid on perfectly. To me, it looks like the bearing was slid on a little crooked. It would be very easy to measure the inner diameter of the bearing since it should be 1.25" (no caliper needed). Quote Link to comment

I got their digital stainless steel one for something like $15. Works great, and you can use it as a scribe, too! jk don't do that. 2 Quote Link to comment
